Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 8 other vehicles, including the 2012 GMC Yukon XL, 2012 GMC Yukon, 2012 Chevrolet Tahoe, 2012 Chevrolet Suburban, and 2012 Chevrolet Avalanche. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Install the transmission range selector cable to the vehicle.

  3. Ensure that the transmission manual shaft lever is in the mechanical park position.
  4. Align and install the range selector cable (2) to the bracket.
  5. Install the retainer (1) that secures the cable to the bracket.
  6. Install the range selector cable end to the transmission range selector lever ball stud.
  7. Install the cable clip on the transfer case, if equipped.

  9. Install the clips on the cable to the floor panel reinforcement.
  10. Lower the vehicle and ensure that the steering column shift lever is still in the park position.

  12. Install the cable grommet to the floor panel.

    NOTE:

    Avoid unnecessary twisting/bending of the range selector cable when installing the cable to the support.

  14. Install the range selector cable to the support.

  16. Install the cable to the steering column bracket.
  17. Ensure the tangs fully engage into the steering column bracket.
  18. Install the cable end to the steering column ball stud.

  20. Install the retainer securing the cable to the steering column.
  21. Position the carpet and insulation around the driver area.
  22. Install the driver seat. Refer to Front Seat Replacement - Bucket (without HP2) , Front Seat Replacement - Bucket (with HP2) .
  23. Install the instrument panel knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement (Except Cadillac) , Knee Bolster Replacement (Cadillac) .
  24. Test the transmission for proper shift operation.
  25. If all of the gear positions cannot be achieved, adjust the cable. Refer to Range Selector Lever Cable Adjustment .
