WARNING:

Do not connect the brake pedal position switch connector with the brake pedal position switch removed. The engine may start if the start/stop button is pressed as the system interprets that the brake pedal is depressed. Unintended starting of the engine is dangerous.

  - Both Second Row Seats
  - Second Row Center Seat (With Second Row Center Seat)
  - Center Rear Step Garnish
- Third Row Seat Cushion Cover/Pad/Frame
- Steering Joint Cover
- Center Console Area Parts
  - Both Rear Heater Joint Ducts
  - Console Duct
- Interior Trim Area Parts
  - Front Door Opening Seal (as needed)
  - Rear Door Opening Seal (as needed)
  - Both Rear Side Trim Panels
  - Both Kick Panels
  - Both B-Pillar Lower Trims
Removal
- Cut the carpet in the area (a) as shown.
- Remove the harness clips (b).

Passenger's Seat (Front Seat Riser Right Side)

Interior Trim Area Parts
- Front Door Opening Seal (as needed)
- Rear Door Opening Seal (as needed)
- Kick Panel
- B-Pillar Lower Trim
- Rear Side Trim Panel
Carpet (as needed)

WARNING:
- Review the precautions and procedures before doing repairs or service .
- Wait at least 3 minutes, after disconnecting the 12 volt battery terminal.
NOTICE:

If you are replacing the rear safing sensor after a deployment, refer to Component Replacement/Inspection After Deployment - Refer to: Airbag and Tensioner Disposal () or SRS Component Replacement/Inspection After Deployment () for a complete list of other parts that must also be replaced.

Key Information

Do the following before starting your work.

Remove:
- Second Row Seat Area Parts
  - Both Second Row Seats
  - Second Row Center Seat (With Second Row Center Seat)
  - Center Rear Step Garnish
- Third Row Seat Cushion Cover/Pad/Frame
- Interior Trim Area Parts
  - Both Front Door Opening Seals (as needed)
  - Both Rear Door Opening Seals (as needed)
  - Both B-Pillar Lower Trims
  - Both Rear Side Trim Panels
- Carpet (as needed)
Preconditions
- 12 Volt Battery Negative Terminal Disconnected

Installation

NOTICE:

Be careful not to bump (by impact wrench, hammer, etc.) the area around the rear safing sensor.

After Installation
- 12 Volt Battery Negative Terminal Reconnect
- Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, and check that the SRS indicator comes on for about 6 seconds and then goes off.
