DTC P1D92  : PCU Electric Coolant Pump Control Circuit

NOTE:  Before you troubleshoot, review the general troubleshooting information .

DTC Description Confirmed DTC Pending DTC Freeze Frame
P1D92 PCU Electric Coolant Pump Control Circuit      

DTC (Electric Powertrain)

  1. DTC check

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    -2. Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS.

    P1673 IGHLD Relay Circuit      

    Is DTC P1673 indicated?

    YES 

    Go to the DTC P1673 troubleshooting .

    NO 

    Go to step 2

  2. Problem verification 1

    -1. Clear the DTC with the HDS.

    -2. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -3. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    -4. Select the ELECTRIC WATER PUMP TEST in the FUNCTION TEST with the HDS, then select START.

    -5. Wait 10 seconds.

    -6. Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS.

    P1D92 PCU Electric Coolant Pump Control Circuit      

    Is DTC P1D92 indicated?

    YES 

    Go to step 4.

    NO 

    Go to step 3.

  3. Problem verification 2

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    -3. Select the ELECTRIC WATER PUMP TEST in the FUNCTION TEST with the HDS, then select STOP.

    -4. Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS.

    P1D92 PCU Electric Coolant Pump Control Circuit      

    Is DTC P1D92 indicated?

    YES 

    Go to step 4.

    NO 

    Intermittent failure. The system is OK at this time. If the freeze data/on-board snapshot of this DTC is recorded, try to reproduce the failure under the same conditions with the freeze data/on-board snapshot.

  4. Fuse check

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. Check the following fuse.

    Fuse No. A13

    Is the fuse OK?

    YES 

    Go to step 5.

    NO 

    Replace the No. A13 fuse. Also check for a short to ground on the No. A13 fuse circuit if needed.

  5. Determine possible failure area (PCU electric coolant pump relay circuit, others)

    -1. Disconnect the following connector.

    PCU electric coolant pump 4P connector

    -2. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    -3. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle ON mode
      PCU electric coolant pump 4P connector: disconnected
    Test point 1 PCU electric coolant pump 4P connector (female terminals) No. 4:
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there battery voltage?

    YES 

    Go to step 6.

    NO 

    Go to step 11.

  6. Open wire check (GND line)

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      PCU electric coolant pump 4P connector: disconnected
    Test point 1 PCU electric coolant pump 4P connector (female terminals) No. 1:
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there 1.0 Ω or less?

    YES 

    Go to step 7.

    NO 

    Repair an open in the GND wire between the PCU electric coolant pump and G352.

  7. Shorted wire check (NEWP/PCU_W/P_NEWP line)

    -1. Do the 12 volt battery terminal disconnection procedure .

    -2. Disconnect the following connector.

    PCU 33P connector

    -3. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      PCU electric coolant pump 4P connector: disconnected
      PCU 33P connector: disconnected
    Test point 1 PCU 33P connector No. 7
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there 1 MΩ or more?

    YES 

    Go to step 8.

    NO 

    Repair a short in the NEWP/PCU_W/P_NEWP wire between the PCU electric coolant pump and the PCU.

  8. Open wire check (NEWP/PCU_W/P_NEWP line)

    -1. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      PCU electric coolant pump 4P connector: disconnected
      PCU 33P connector: disconnected
    Test point 1 PCU electric coolant pump 4P connector (female terminals) No. 2:
    Test point 2 PCU 33P connector No. 7

    Is there 1.0 Ω or less?

    YES 

    Go to step 9.

    NO 

    Repair an open in the NEWP/PCU_W/P_NEWP wire between the PCU electric coolant pump and the PCU.

  9. Shorted wire check (EWP/PCU_W/P_EWP line)

    -1. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      PCU electric coolant pump 4P connector: disconnected
      PCU 33P connector: disconnected
    Test point 1 PCU 33P connector No. 18
    Test point 1 Body ground

    Is there 1 MΩ or more?

    YES 

    Go to step 10.

    NO 

    Repair a short in the EWP/PCU_W/P_EWP wire between the PCU electric coolant pump and the PCU.

  10. Open wire check (EWP/PCU_W/P_EWP line)

    -1. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      PCU electric coolant pump 4P connector: disconnected
      PCU 33P connector: disconnected
    Test point 1 PCU electric coolant pump 4P connector (female terminals) No. 3:
    Test point 2 PCU 33P connector No. 18

    Is there 1.0 Ω or less?

    YES 

    Replace the PCU electric coolant pump , then recheck. If DTC P1D92 is still indicated, replace the PCU .

    NO 

    Repair an open in the EWP/PCU_W/P_EWP wire between the PCU electric coolant pump and the PCU.

  11. Relay check

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. Remove the PCU electric coolant pump relay .

    -3. Test the PCU electric coolant pump relay .

    Is the relay OK?

    YES 

    Go to step 12.

    NO 

    Replace the PCU electric coolant pump relay.

  12. Open wire check (PCU_EWP_RLY_OUT line)

    -1. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
    PCU electric coolant pump 4P connector: disconnected
      PCU electric coolant pump relay: disconnected
    Test point 1 PCU electric coolant pump relay 4P socket (female terminals) No. 2:
    Test point 2 PCU electric coolant pump 4P connector (female terminals) No. 4:

    Is there 1.0 Ω or less?

    YES 

    Go to step 13.

    NO 

    Repair an open in the PCU_EWP_RLY_OUT wire between the PCU electric coolant pump relay and the PCU electric coolant pump.

  13. Open wire check (IG_PCU_EWP/PCU_EWP_RLY_CL- line)

    -1. Do the 12 volt battery terminal disconnection procedure .

    -2. Reinstall the PCU electric coolant pump relay .

    -3. Disconnect the following connector.

    PCU 33P connector

    -4. Do the 12 volt battery terminal reconnection procedure .

    -5. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    -6. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle ON mode
      PCU electric coolant pump 4P connector: disconnected
      PCU 33P connector: disconnected
    Test point 1 PCU 33P connector No. 33
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there battery voltage?

    YES 

    Replace the PCU .

    NO 

    Repair an open in the IG_PCU_EWP/PCU_EWP_RLY_CL- wire between the PCU electric coolant pump relay and the PCU.
