DTC U1205  : EP-CAN Malfunction (PCM-Motor Control Module)

DTC U1206  : EP-CAN Malfunction (PCM-Battery Condition Monitor Module)

DTC U12A5  : EP-CAN Malfunction (PCM-Motor Control Module)

DTC U12AA  : EP-CAN Malfunction (PCM-SBW Shifter)

DTC U12B4  : EP-CAN Malfunction (PCM-Park Pawl Actuator Driver Unit)

DTC (PGM-FI)

  1. CAN gateway system DTC check

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    -2. Check for CAN gateway system DTCs with the HDS.

    DTC Description DTC
       

    Are any DTCs indicated?

    YES 

    Go to the troubleshooting for CAN gateway system DTC(s) .

    NO 

    Go to step 2.

  2. F-CAN circuit communication check (Receiving control unit)

    -1. Select the FUNCTION TEST in the CAN gateway with the HDS, then select the F-CAN Bus Connected Unit Check.

    Which result is indicated?

    Bus E is Not Available

    Go to step 3.

    Bus E is Available

    Go to step 4.

  3. Open wire check (EP-CAN A_H line, EP-CAN A_L line)

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. Jump the SCS line with the HDS, and wait more than 1 minute.

    -3. Disconnect the following connectors.

    CAN gateway 16P connector
    PCM connector A (50P)

    -4. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      CAN gateway 16P connector: disconnected
      PCM connector A (50P): disconnected
    Test point 1 CAN gateway 16P connector (female terminals) No. 16:
    Test point 2 PCM connector A (50P) No. 21
    Test point 1 CAN gateway 16P connector (female terminals) No. 8:
    Test point 2 PCM connector A (50P) No. 20

    Is there 1.0 Ω or less?

    YES 

    The EP-CAN A_H wire and the EP-CAN A_L wire are OK. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the CAN gateway and the PCM. Check for any authorized service information related to the DTCs or symptoms you are troubleshooting, or substitute a known-good PCM .

    NO 

    Repair an open in the EP-CAN A_H wire or the EP-CAN A_L wire between the PCM (A20, A21) and the CAN gateway.

  4. Open wire check (EP-CAN A_H line, EP-CAN A_L line)

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. Disconnect the receiving control unit connector(s).

    NOTE:  Jump the SCS line with the HDS, and wait more than 1 minute when disconnecting the PCM connector(s).

    PCM connector A (50P)

    -3. According to the detected DTC on the following table, disconnect the transmitting control unit connector(s).

    NOTE:  Before disconnecting the PCU connector and/or the battery condition monitor module connector, do the 12 volt battery terminal disconnection procedure , and turn off the service plug .

    -4. Measure the resistance between the receiving control unit and the transmitting control unit on the EP-CAN A_H circuit and the EP-CAN A_L circuit.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      Receiving control unit connector(s): disconnected
      Transmitting control unit connector(s) for indicated DTCs: disconnected

    Is there 1.0 Ω or less?

    YES 

    The EP-CAN A_H wire and the EP-CAN A_L wire are OK. Check for any authorized service information related to the DTCs or symptoms you are troubleshooting. According to the detected DTC on the following table, substitute or replace the correspond control unit.

    DTC Operation for transmitting control unit
    U1205 Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the CAN gateway and the PCU. Substitute a known-good PCU .
    U1206 Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the CAN gateway and the battery condition monitor module. Substitute a known-good battery condition monitor module .
    U12A5 Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the CAN gateway and the PCU. Substitute a known-good PCU .
    U12AA Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the CAN gateway and the SBW shifter control module. Substitute a known-good SBW shifter control module .
    U12B4 Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the CAN gateway and the park pawl actuator driver unit. Substitute a known-good park pawl actuator driver unit .

    NO 

    Repair an open in the EP-CAN A_H wire and/or the EP-CAN A_L wire between the receiving control unit and the transmitting control unit.
