Motor Rotor Position Sensor Circuit Inspection (Traction Motor Control Module)

NOTE:  Before testing, check for DTCs. If any DTCs are indicated, troubleshoot the indicated DTCs first.

Shorted wire check (traction motor motor rotor position sensor circuit)

Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

-2. Do the 12 volt battery terminal disconnection procedure .

-3. Disconnect the following connector.

PCU 33P connector

Check for continuity between the following test points and body ground individually.

Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
  PCU 33P connector: disconnected
Connector Test circuit Terminal
PCU 33P connector  S1M No. 9
S2M No. 30
S3M No. 20
S4M No. 31
R1M No. 8
R2M No. 19

-5. Disconnect the following connector.

Motor rotor position sensor 12P connector

Check for continuity between the following test points and body ground individually.

Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
  Motor rotor position sensor 12P connector: disconnected
  PCU 33P connector: disconnected
Connector Test circuit Terminal
PCU 33P connector  S1M No. 9
S2M No. 30
S3M No. 20
S4M No. 31
R1M No. 8
R2M No. 19

Open wire check (traction motor motor rotor position sensor circuit)

Disconnect the following connector.

Motor rotor position sensor 12P connector

Check for continuity between the following terminals respectively.

Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
  PCU 33P connector: disconnected
  Motor rotor position sensor 12P connector: disconnected

S1M line 

Test point 1 PCU 33P connector No. 9 
Test point 2 Motor rotor position sensor 12P connector (female terminals) No. 6:

S2M line 

Test point 1 PCU 33P connector No. 30 
Test point 2 Motor rotor position sensor 12P connector (female terminals) No. 5:

S3M line 

Test point 1 PCU 33P connector No. 20 
Test point 2 Motor rotor position sensor 12P connector (female terminals) No. 12:

S4M line 

Test point 1 PCU 33P connector No. 31 
Test point 2 Motor rotor position sensor 12P connector (female terminals) No. 11:

R1M line 

Test point 1 PCU 33P connector No. 8 
Test point 2 Motor rotor position sensor 12P connector (female terminals) No. 4:

R2M line 

Test point 1 PCU 33P connector No. 19 
Test point 2 Motor rotor position sensor 12P connector (female terminals) No. 10:
