No sound is heard from all the speakers (display is normal)

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.

NOTE: 

  1. Operation check

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    -2. Check that the volume level is not set to the MIN level.

    Is it at the MIN level?

    YES 

    Raise the volume level, and recheck the function.

    NO: Display audio type

    Go to step 2.

    NO: Color audio type

    Go to step 4.

  2. Audio system check

    -1. Check if the center display unit keeps indicating audio mute indication.

    Is audio mute indication displayed?

    YES 

    Go to step 3.

    NO 

    Go to step 4.

  3. Open wire check (ACC line)

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. Disconnect the following connector.

    Audio-navigation unit connector A (24P) (with navigation)
    Audio unit connector A (24P) (without navigation)

    -3. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    -4. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle ON mode
      Audio-navigation unit connector A (24P) (with navigation): disconnected
    Audio unit connector A (24P) (without navigation): disconnected
    Test point 1 Audio-navigation unit connector A (24P) (with navigation) No. 23
      Audio unit connector A (24P) (without navigation) No. 23
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there battery voltage?

    YES: With navigation

    Replace the audio-navigation unit .

    YES: Without navigation

    Replace the audio unit .

    NO 

    Repair an open in the wire.

  4. Problem verification:

    Go into the System Diagnostic Mode, and use the speaker check mode.

    Did all speakers produce a tone?

    YES 

    Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for loose connections. If the tone is weak or distorted, go to Audio system sound is weak or distorted (display is normal) troubleshooting .

    NO: With stereo amplifier

    The failure is duplicated, go to step 5.

    NO: Without stereo amplifier

    The failure is duplicated, go to step 19.

  5. System Diagnostic Mode check:

    Go into the System Diagnostic Mode, and use the System Links to check the AMP icon status.

    Is the AMP icon green?

    YES 

    Go to step 15.

    NO 

    Go to step 6.

  6. Open wire check (+B_AUDIO_AMP line)

    -1. Disconnect the following connector.

    Stereo amplifier connector A (18P)

    -2. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      Stereo amplifier connector A (18P): disconnected
    Test point 1 Stereo amplifier connector A (18P) No. 3
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there battery voltage?

    YES 

    The +B_AUDIO_AMP wire is OK. Go to step 7.

    NO 

    Repair an open in the wire.

  7. Determine possible failure area (SWD+B line, others)

    -1. Disconnect the following connector.

    Stereo amplifier connector C (16P)

    -2. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    -3. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle ON mode
      Stereo amplifier connector A (18P): disconnected
      Stereo amplifier connector C (16P): disconnected
    Test point 1 Stereo amplifier connector C (16P) No. 14
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there battery voltage?

    YES 

    The SWD+B wire is OK. Go to step 10.

    NO 

    Go to step 8.

  8. Open wire check (SWD+B line)

    -1. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle ON mode
      Stereo amplifier connector A (18P): disconnected
      Stereo amplifier connector C (16P): disconnected
    Test point 1 Audio-navigation unit connector A (24P) (with navigation) No. 21
      Audio unit connector A (24P) (without navigation) No. 21
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there battery voltage?

    YES 

    Repair an open in the wire.

    NO 

    The SWD+B wire is not open. Go to step 9.

  9. Shorted wire check (SWD+B line)

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. Disconnect the following connector.

    Audio-navigation unit connector A (24P) (with navigation)
    Audio unit connector A (24P) (without navigation)

    -3. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      Stereo amplifier connector A (18P): disconnected
      Stereo amplifier connector C (16P): disconnected
      Audio-navigation unit connector A (24P) (with navigation): disconnected
    Audio unit connector A (24P) (without navigation): disconnected
    Test point 1 Audio-navigation unit connector A (24P) (with navigation) No. 21
      Audio unit connector A (24P) (without navigation) No. 21
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there 1.0 MΩ or more?

    YES: With navigation

    Replace the audio-navigation unit .

    YES: Without navigation

    Replace the audio unit .

    NO 

    Repair a short to body ground in the wire.

  10. Open wire check (GND line)

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. Reconnect the following connectors.

    Stereo amplifier connector A (18P)
    Stereo amplifier connector C (16P)

    -3. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.

    -4. Measure the voltage between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle ON mode
    Test point 1 Stereo amplifier connector A (18P) No. 1
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there less than 0.2 V?

    YES 

    The GND wire is OK. Go to step 11.

    NO 

    Repair an open or high resistance in the ground wire or poor ground (G402).

  11. Shorted wire check (RS485+ line, RS485- line)

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. Disconnect the following connectors.

    Audio-navigation unit connector E (16P) (with navigation)
    Audio unit connector E (16P) (without navigation)
    Stereo amplifier connector C (16P)

    -3. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      Audio-navigation unit connector E (16P) (with navigation): disconnected
    Audio unit connector E (16P) (without navigation): disconnected
      Stereo amplifier connector C (16P): disconnected
    Test point 1 Audio-navigation unit connector E (16P) (with navigation) No. 7
      Audio unit connector E (16P) (without navigation) No. 7
    Test point 2 Body ground
    Test point 1 Audio-navigation unit connector E (16P) (with navigation) No. 8
      Audio unit connector E (16P) (without navigation) No. 8
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there 1.0 MΩ or more?

    YES 

    The RS485+ and the RS485- wires are not shorted to ground. Go to step 12.

    NO 

    There is a short to body ground in the wire(s). Replace the affected shielded harness.

  12. Shorted wire check (RS485+ line to RS485- line)

    -1. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      Audio-navigation unit connector E (16P) (with navigation): disconnected
    Audio unit connector E (16P) (without navigation): disconnected
      Stereo amplifier connector C (16P): disconnected
    Test point 1 Audio-navigation unit connector E (16P) (with navigation) No. 7
      Audio unit connector E (16P) (without navigation) No. 7
    Test point 2 Audio-navigation unit connector E (16P) (with navigation) No. 8
      Audio unit connector E (16P) (without navigation) No. 8

    Is there 1.0 MΩ or more?

    YES 

    The RS485+ and the RS485- wires are not shorted. Go to step 13.

    NO 

    There is a short in the wires. Replace the affected shielded harness.

  13. Shorted wire check (AMP_RS485_SH line to another lines)

    -1. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      Audio-navigation unit connector E (16P) (with navigation): disconnected
    Audio unit connector E (16P) (without navigation): disconnected
      Stereo amplifier connector C (16P): disconnected
    Test point 1 Audio-navigation unit connector E (16P) (with navigation) No. 6
      Audio unit connector E (16P) (without navigation) No. 6
    Test point 2 Audio-navigation unit connector E (16P) (with navigation) No. 7
      Audio unit connector E (16P) (without navigation) No. 7
    Test point 1 Audio-navigation unit connector E (16P) (with navigation) No. 6
      Audio unit connector E (16P) (without navigation) No. 6
    Test point 2 Audio-navigation unit connector E (16P) (with navigation) No. 8
      Audio unit connector E (16P) (without navigation) No. 8

    Is there 1.0 MΩ or more?

    YES 

    The AMP_RS485_SH wire is OK. Go to step 14.

    NO 

    There is a short in the wires. Replace the affected shielded harness.

  14. Open wire check (RS485+ line, RS485- line)

    -1. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      Audio-navigation unit connector E (16P) (with navigation): disconnected
    Audio unit connector E (16P) (without navigation): disconnected
      Stereo amplifier connector C (16P): disconnected
    Test point 1 Audio-navigation unit connector E (16P) (with navigation) No. 7
      Audio unit connector E (16P) (without navigation) No. 7
    Test point 2 Stereo amplifier connector C (16P) No. 15
    Test point 1 Audio-navigation unit connector E (16P) (with navigation) No. 8
      Audio unit connector E (16P) (without navigation) No. 8
    Test point 2 Stereo amplifier connector C (16P) No. 7

    Is there 1.0 Ω or less?

    YES 

    The RS485+ and the RS485- wires are OK. Go to step 18.

    NO 

    There is an open in the wire(s). Replace the affected shielded harness.

  15. Shorted wire check (SPDIF2 SIG line)

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. Disconnect the following connectors.

    Audio-navigation unit connector M (4P) (with navigation)
    Audio unit connector M (4P) (without navigation)
    Stereo amplifier connector D (2P)

    -3. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      Audio-navigation unit connector M (4P) (with navigation): disconnected
    Audio unit connector M (4P) (without navigation): disconnected
      Stereo amplifier connector D (2P): disconnected
    Test point 1 Audio-navigation unit connector M (4P) (with navigation) No. 1
      Audio unit connector M (4P) (without navigation) No. 1
    Test point 2 Body ground

    Is there 1.0 MΩ or more?

    YES 

    The SPDIF2 SIG wire is not shorted to ground. Go to step 16.

    NO 

    There is a short to body ground in the wire(s). Replace the affected shielded harness.

  16. Shorted wire check (SPDIF2 SIG line to SPDIF2 SH line)

    -1. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      Audio-navigation unit connector M (4P) (with navigation): disconnected
    Audio unit connector M (4P) (without navigation): disconnected
      Stereo amplifier connector D (2P): disconnected
    Test point 1 Audio-navigation unit connector M (4P) (with navigation) No. 1
      Audio unit connector M (4P) (without navigation) No. 1
    Test point 2 Audio-navigation unit connector M (4P) (with navigation) No. 3
      Audio unit connector M (4P) (without navigation) No. 3

    Is there 1.0 MΩ or more?

    YES 

    The SPDIF2 SIG and the SPDIF2 SH wires are not shorted. Go to step 17.

    NO 

    There is a short in the wires. Replace the affected shielded harness.

  17. Open wire check (SPDIF2 SIG line)

    -1. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      Audio-navigation unit connector M (4P) (with navigation): disconnected
    Audio unit connector M (4P) (without navigation): disconnected
      Stereo amplifier connector D (2P): disconnected
    Test point 1 Audio-navigation unit connector M (4P) (with navigation) No. 1
      Audio unit connector M (4P) (without navigation) No. 1
    Test point 2 Stereo amplifier connector D (2P) No. 1

    Is there 1.0 Ω or less?

    YES 

    The SPDIF2 SIG wire is OK. Go to step 18.

    NO 

    There is an open in the wire(s). Replace the affected shielded harness.

  18. Stereo amplifier check (substitution)

    -1. Substitute a known-good stereo amplifier .

    -2. Reconnect all the connectors, and recheck.

    Does the symptom go away?

    YES 

    Replace the original stereo amplifier .

    NO: With navigation

    Replace the audio-navigation unit .

    NO: Without navigation

    Replace the audio unit .

  19. Shorted wire check (SPKR lines) 1

    -1. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.

    -2. Disconnect the following connector.

    Audio-navigation unit connector A (24P) (with navigation)
    Audio unit connector A (24P) (without navigation)

    -3. Measure the resistance between these test points and body ground individually.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      Audio-navigation unit connector A (24P) (with navigation): disconnected
    Audio unit connector A (24P) (without navigation): disconnected

    Audio-navigation unit connector A (24P) (with navigation)

    Audio unit connector A (24P) (without navigation)

    No. 5
    No. 6
    No. 7
    No. 8
    No. 15
    No. 16

    No. 18

    Is there 1.0 MΩ or more?

    YES 

    The SPKR wires are not shorted to ground. Go to step 20.

    NO 

    Repair a short to body ground in the wire(s).

  20. Shorted wire check (SPKR lines) 2

    -1. Measure the resistance between test points 1 and 2.

    Test condition Vehicle OFF (LOCK) mode
      Audio-navigation unit connector A (24P) (with navigation): disconnected
    Audio unit connector A (24P) (without navigation): disconnected
    Test point 1:Audio-navigation unit connector A (24P) (with navigation)

    Audio unit connector A (24P) (without navigation)

    Test point 2:Audio-navigation unit connector A (24P) (with navigation)

    Is the resistance OK?

    YES: With navigation

    Replace the audio-navigation unit .

    YES: Without navigation

    Replace the audio unit .

    NO 

    Repair a short in the wires.
