Oil Pump Overhaul: Removal

  1. Open the hood, and secure it with the hood support rod (A) in the wide-open position (B).

  3. Drain the engine oil see (Engine Oil Replacement ).
  4. Remove the cowl cover and the under-cowl panel (see COWL COVER REPLACEMENT ).
  5. Support the engine with a jack and a wood block under the oil pan.
  6. Remove the cam chain (see CAM CHAIN REMOVAL ).
  7. Remove the auto-tensioner (see DRIVE BELT AUTO-TENSIONER REPLACEMENT ).
  8. Attach the support eyelet to the cylinder block.

  9. Install the engine hanger adapter (VSB02C000026) to the engine support hanger (AAR-T1256), then install the engine support hanger onto the vehicle, and attach the hook (A) to the support eyelet (B). Tighten the wing nut (C) by hand, and lift and support the engine/IMA motor/transmission.

  10. Remove the jack and the wood block from under the oil pan.
  11. Remove the oil pan (see CONNECTING ROD JOURNAL CODE LOCATIONS ).
  12. Remove the oil screen (A), then remove the oil pump (B).
