Brake Booster Replacement

  1. Remove the master cylinder (see MASTER CYLINDER REPLACEMENT  ).
  2. Disconnect the brake booster vacuum hose (A) from the brake booster.

  3. Remove the IMA motor power cable bracket (B).
  4. Remove the brake lines (A) from the clamp (B).

  5. Remove the engine wire harness clamps (A) from the engine wire harness bracket (B).

  6. Remove the engine wire harness clamp (A) from the engine wire harness bracket (B), then remove the engine wire harness bracket.

  7. Remove the driver's dashboard undercover (see DRIVER'S DASHBOARD UNDERCOVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ).
  8. Remove the lock pin (A) and the clevis pin (B), then disconnect the clevis from the brake pedal.
    NOTE: During installation, apply multipurpose grease to the clevis pin in the brake pedal.

  9. Remove the brake booster/brake pedal mounting nuts (C).
  10. Remove the brake booster (A) from the engine compartment.
    NOTE:
    • Be careful not to damage the booster surfaces and threads of the booster stud bolts.
    • Be careful not to bend or damage the brake lines or other components hoses and lines.
    NOTE: Use a new booster gasket (B) during reassembly.

  11. Install the brake booster in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:
