SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations (see COMPONENT LOCATION INDEX ) and the precautions and procedures (see PRECAUTIONS AND PROCEDURES ) before performing repairs or service.

1. Make sure you have the anti-theft codes for the radio and the navigation system, then write down the radio station and XM radio channel presets.
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable, and wait at least 3 minutes before beginning work.
3. Remove these items:
   • Passenger's dashboard under cover (see UPPER GLOVE BOX POCKET REMOVAL/INSTALLATION  )
   • Center lower cover (see DASHBOARD CENTER LOWER COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION  )
   • Lower glove box (see LOWER GLOVE BOX REMOVAL/INSTALLATION  )
   • Driver's dashboard outer panel (see DRIVER'S DASHBOARD OUTER PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION  )
   • Kick panels, both sides (see TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - DOOR AREAS )
   • A-pillar trim, both sides (see A-PILLAR )
   • Front A-pillar corner trim (see A-PILLAR CORNER TRIM REPLACEMENT )
   • Steering column (see STEERING COLUMN REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION )
4. Disconnect the A/T shift cable (see SHIFT CABLE REPLACEMENT ).

   Driver's side 

5. From under the dash, disconnect the cabin wire harness connectors (A), interior wire harness connectors (B), floor wire harness connectors (C), parking brake switch connector (D), and dashboard wire harness connectors (E) from the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box (F), and then release the wire harness clip (G).
   NOTE: Lift the large wire harness connector locks (H) before trying to remove the connectors from the fuse/relay box.

   Middle portion 

6. Remove the heater lower duct (A). Detach the harness clips (B), and disconnect the SRS control unit connectors (C), radio antenna connectors (D), A/C subharness connector (E), and floor wire harness connectors.

   Passenger's side 

7. From under the dash, disconnect the passenger's door wire harness connectors (A), the floor wire harness connector (B), audio amplifier connectors (C), roof wire harness connector (D), and disconnect the dashboard wire harness connectors (E) from the passenger's under-dash fuse/relay box (F). Using a T35 Torx bit, remove the ground bolt (G).

8. Open the driver's door, and remove the bolts (A, B). Remove the remaining bolts (C, D, E), and lift up on the dashboard (F) to release it from the guide pins (G, H).
   NOTE: Before removing the dashboard, make sure all the harnesses have been disconnected.

9. Remove the bolts, then remove the center bracket (A).

10. Carefully remove the dashboard through the front door opening.
    NOTE: Do not rest the dashboard on its lower center cover opening, or it may be damaged. Lay it on its front or back.
11. Install the dashboard in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:
    • Reinstall the center bracket on the center frame, and slightly tighten the mounting bolts. Reinstall the dashboard on the body. After tightening the dashboard mounting bolts and nut, tighten the center bracket mounting bolts and center frame mounting bolts.
    • Make sure the dashboard fits onto the guide pins correctly.
    • Apply liquid thread lock to the bolts securing the center bracket and the dashboard before reinstallation.
    • Before tightening the bolts, make sure the wire harnesses are not pinched.
    • Make sure the connectors are plugged in properly, and the antenna lead and air hose are connected properly.
    • Reconnect the negative cable to the battery.
    • Enter the anti-theft codes for the radio and navigation system, then enter the customer's radio station presets, or XM radio channel presets.
    • Set the clock.
    • Perform the power window control unit reset procedure (see RESETTING THE POWER WINDOW CONTROL UNIT ).
    • Check for any DTCs that may have been set during repairs, and clear them.
