Removal Procedure

  1. Drain the engine oil. Refer to Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement .
  2. Remove the engine front cover. Refer to Engine Front Cover Replacement .
  3. Unbolt and reposition the A/C compressor without disconnecting the lines. Refer to Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement (LCV)Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement (LTG) .
  4. If equipped, remove the engine oil cooler. Refer to Engine Oil Cooler Replacement .
  5. If equipped with all-wheel drive, remove the front differential carrier assembly. Refer to Front Differential Carrier Assembly Replacement (LCV or LTG) .
  6. If equipped with all-wheel drive, remove the front wheel drive intermediate shaft housing. Refer to Front Wheel Drive Intermediate Shaft Housing Replacement .
  7. If equipped with rear-wheel drive, remove the frame. Refer to Drivetrain and Front Suspension Frame Removal and Installation (LGX, LTG) .

  8. Remove the oil pump exhaust shield bolt (1).

  9. Remove the exhaust bracket bolts (1) and bracket (2).

  10. Remove the transmission cooler inlet and outlet pipe retainer bolt then reposition the pipe assembly.   11. Remove the transmission bolts (1).

  12. Remove the oil pan bolts (1-3).
  13. Remove the oil pan (4).
  14. Disconnect the electrical connector as necessary.
  15. If necessary, remove the lower oil pan. Refer to Oil Pan Removal (LCV)Oil Pan Removal (LTG) .
  16. For oil pan cleaning and inspection, refer to Oil Pan Cleaning and Inspection .
