Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the plenum front panel. Refer to Plenum Front Panel Replacement .
    2. Fig 1: Fuel Pump Insulator

  2. Remove the fuel pump insulator (1). Refer to Fuel Pump Insulator Replacement (Inner)Fuel Pump Insulator Replacement (Outer) .
  3. Remove the evaporative emission canister purge solenoid valve. Refer to Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Solenoid Valve Replacement (LCV)Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Solenoid Valve Replacement (LTG) .
  4. Remove the radiator surge tank. Refer to Radiator Surge Tank Replacement (LTG) .
  5. Remove the generator. Refer to Generator Replacement (LCV, LTG) .

  6. Remove the radiator inlet pipe fastener (1).

  7. Remove the lower intake manifold fastener (1).
  8. Disconnect the wire harness retainers from the intake manifold and reposition the harness aside.
  9. Disconnect the vacuum brake booster pipe at the intake manifold.
  10. Disconnect the evaporative emission pipe from the intake manifold retainer.
  11. If equipped with all-wheel drive, disconnect the front differential vent hose from the retainer at the intake manifold.

  12. Remove the upper intake manifold fasteners (1).
  13. Remove the intake manifold (2) from the vehicle.
  14. Disconnect electrical connector as necessary.

  15. Remove the intake manifold gasket (1) and DISCARD.
  16. For intake manifold cleaning and inspection. Refer to Intake Manifold Cleaning and Inspection .
  17. If replacing the intake manifold, transfer all necessary parts.
