Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the left side rear compartment trim panel. Refer to Rear Compartment Side Trim Replacement - Left Side (Sedan with AM9)Rear Compartment Side Trim Replacement - Left Side (Sedan except AM9)Rear Compartment Side Trim Replacement - Left Side (Coupe) .
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  3. Remove the battery fuse block cover.

  4. Remove the battery positive cable fastener (1) from the battery fuse block (2) and remove the battery positive cable terminal (7).
  5. Detach the battery positive cable retainer (6) from the battery hold down bracket.
  6. Disconnect the body harness connector (3) from the current sensor (4) and detach the battery positive cable retainers (5).

  7. Detach the battery positive cable retainers (1) from behind the left rear seat.
  8. Remove the rear seat cushion. Refer to Rear Seat Cushion Removal and Installation (Sedan)Rear Seat Cushion Removal and Installation (Coupe) .
  9. If equipped with AM9, remove the seat back bolster. Refer to Rear Seat Back Bolster Replacement (Sedan)Rear Seat Back Bolster Replacement (Coupe) .
  10. If equipped with AM9, remove the rear seat back cushion. Refer to Rear Seat Back Cushion Removal and Installation (40% Seat with AM9)Rear Seat Back Cushion Removal and Installation (60% Seat with AM9) .
  11. Remove the rear side door sill garnish moldings left and right. Refer to Rear Side Door Sill Garnish Molding Replacement .

  12. Remove the battery positive cable from inside the conduits (1).
  13. Peal back the rear carpet to access the battery positive cable in front of the rear seat.

  14. Detach the battery positive cable retainers (1).
  15. Remove the passenger seat. Refer to Driver or Passenger Seat Removal and Installation .
  16. Remove the center pillar lower trim panel. Refer to Center Pillar Lower Trim Panel Replacement .
  17. Remove the rear side door sill garnish molding. Refer to Rear Side Door Sill Garnish Molding Replacement .
  18. Remove the right side instrument panel lower trim panel insulator. Refer to Instrument Panel Lower Trim Panel Insulator Replacement (Right Side) .
  19. Remove the front side door sill trim plate. Refer to Front Side Door Sill Trim Plate Replacement (Sedan)Front Side Door Sill Trim Plate Replacement (Coupe) .
  20. Remove the body control module. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement .
  21. Peel back the carpet to access the battery positive cable.

  22. Detach the battery positive cable retainers (1).

  23. Remove the following from the pre-fuse block:
    • Battery Jumper Post Cover (1).
    • Pre-Fuse Block Cover (2).
    • Battery Positive Barrel Retainer (3).
    • Battery Positive Cable (4).

  24. Detach the battery positive cable retainer (1) from the radiator surge tank.
  25. Reposition the radiator surge tank with hoses attached. Refer to Radiator Surge Tank Replacement (LF4, LGX)Radiator Surge Tank Replacement (LTG) .
  26. Remove the plenum front panel. Refer to Plenum Front Panel Replacement .
  27. Reposition the brake pressure modulator valve without disconnecting the brake pipes. Refer to Brake Pressure Modulator Valve Replacement .

  28. Detach the battery positive cable retainers (2) from the body harness.

  29. Remove the pass through grommet (1) and detach the battery positive cable retainers (3).
  30. Pull the battery positive cable (2) through the pass through opening.
  31. Remove the battery positive cable from inside the vehicle.
