Removal Procedure

  1. Drain the cooling system. Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static) Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE 47716) 
  2. Remove Drivetrain and Front Suspension Frame. Drivetrain and Front Suspension Frame Removal and Installation (LF4)

  3. Remove Engine Mount Bracket - Right Side (4) - Engine Mount Bracket Replacement - Right Side (LF4)

  4. Disconnect Transmission Fluid Cooler Inlet and Outlet Pipe (2) @Transmission - Transmission Fluid Cooler Inlet and Outlet Pipe Replacement (LF4 With MG9)Transmission Fluid Cooler Inlet and Outlet Pipe Replacement (LF4 With M5U)

  5. Remove Catalytic Converter (3) - Catalytic Converter Replacement - Right Side (LF4)

  6. Remove Starter (4) - Starter Replacement (LF4 - Manual Transmission)Starter Replacement (LF4 - Automatic Transmission)
  7. Reposition the starter electrical wiring harness.

  8. Remove Engine Oil Cooler Adapter (2) - Engine Oil Cooler Adapter Replacement (LF4)

  9. Remove Radiator Outlet Hose (2) - Radiator Outlet Hose Replacement (LF4)

  10. Remove Radiator Outlet Pipe Bracket Bolt (1)

  11. Disconnect Heater Inlet Hose (2) @Heater Core - Heater Inlet Hose Replacement (LF4)

  12. Disconnect Heater Outlet Hose (2) @Heater Core - Heater Outlet Hose Replacement (LF4)

  13. Disconnect the engine electrical wiring harness retainers (1) and reposition the harness.

  14. Remove Radiator Outlet Pipe Bracket Bolt (1)
    15. NOTE:

    Raise or lower engine and position to the left side as necessary.

  15. Remove Radiator Outlet Pipe (3)
  16. DISCARD the O-ring seal. (2)
