Installation Procedure

  1. Clean the sealing surfaces.

    CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

  2. Install the engine coolant thermostat housing (2) to the water pump housing with a NEW gasket (3) and tighten the fasteners (1) to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

  3. Connect the thermostat heater connector (1).
  4. Install the thermostat heater shield (3) and tighten the fastener (4) to 5 N.m (44 lb in).

  5. Install the radiator outlet hose (1) to the engine coolant thermostat housing (2).
  6. Install the exhaust manifold heat shield. Refer to Exhaust Manifold Heat Shield Replacement (LCV) .
  7. Install the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement (LCV) .
  8. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (Static) Cooling System Draining and Filling (GE 47716) .
  9. Start the engine and check for coolant leaks.
