Blower Motor Inoperative

NOTE: For circuit reference, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  and/or WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
NOTE: Definition: The blower motor is inoperative in all speed positions.
  1. Did you review DESCRIPTION & OPERATION and perform the necessary inspections? If so, go to next step. If not, see DESCRIPTION , OPERATION  and TROUBLE SHOOTING  .
  2. Turn ignition on. Place mode switch in any position except OFF. Place blower switch in each speed position. If blower motor is inoperative in all speed positions, go to next step. If blower motor operates in any speed position, go to MAIN BLOWER MOTOR MALFUNCTION .
  3. Disconnect blower motor harness connector. Using test light connected to ground, probe blower motor harness connector terminal "A" (Purple wire). Place blower motor switch in minimum speed position. If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step  5.
  4. Ensure blower motor harness connector is disconnected. Connect test light between blower motor harness connector terminals "A" (Purple wire) and "B" (Black wire). Place blower motor switch in minimum speed position. If test light illuminates, go to step  10. If test light does not illuminate, go to step  8.
  5. Turn ignition off. Disconnect blower motor resistor harness connector. Turn ignition on. Using test light connected to ground, probe blower motor resistor harness connector terminal "E" (Yellow wire). If test light does not illuminates, go to next step. If test light illuminates, go to step  9.
  6. Turn ignition off. Disconnect HVAC control assembly harness connectors. Turn ignition on. Using test light connected to ground, probe HVAC control assembly harness connector C2 terminal "E" (Brown wire). If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step  12.
  7. Check White wire between HVAC control assembly harness connectors C2 terminal "G" and C3 terminal "A" for open or high resistance. Repair White wire as necessary. After repairs are complete, go to step  16. If wire is okay, go to step  11.
  8. Check Black wire between blower motor resistor harness connector terminal "C" and ground for open or high resistance. Repair Black wire as necessary. After repairs are complete, go to step  16. If wire is okay, go to next step.
  9. Check for poor connections or connector damage at blower motor resistor harness connector. Repair or replace as necessary. After repairs are complete, go to step  16. If connections are okay, go to step  13.
  10. Check for poor connections or connector damage at blower motor harness connector. Repair or replace as necessary. After repairs are complete, go to step  16.
  11. Check for poor connections or connector damage at HVAC control assembly harness connectors. Repair or replace as necessary. After repairs are complete, go to step  16.
  12. Repair Brown wire between HTR-A/C Fuse No. 12 (20-amp) located in instrument panel fuse block and HVAC control assembly harness connector C2 terminal "E" as necessary. After repairs are complete, go to step  16.
  13. Replace blower motor resistor assembly. See BLOWER MOTOR RESISTOR  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs are complete, go to step  16.
  14. Replace front blower motor. See BLOWER MOTOR (FRONT)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs are complete, go to step  16.
  15. Replace HVAC control assembly. See HVAC CONTROL PANEL  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs, go to next step.
  16. Operate blower system to verify repair. If blower operates normally, repair is complete. If blower motor is still inoperative, return to step  2.
