Section 23 (HVAC Systems - Manual): Description
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 GMC Safari and 2002 Chevrolet Astro. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
HVAC (Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning) system is an electronically controlled blend-air system. Air entering vehicle must pass through evaporator core and through, or around, heater core to provide air of desired temperature. Compressor operation is controlled by a pressure cycling switch on top of accumulator.
An auxiliary (rear) A/C system or auxiliary A/C and heater system is available. The system operates in conjunction with main system, and provides air conditioning and heat (if equipped). Auxiliary blower motor switches are independent of main system control. Auxiliary blower motor may be operated independently of front HVAC system.
