System Diagnostic Check

  1. Release parking brake and do not apply brake pedal. Turn ignition on, engine off. Check BRAKE indicator light. If BRAKE light stays on continuously, go to BRAKE LIGHT ON  under SYMPTOM DIAGNOSIS. If BRAKE light does not stay on continuously, go to next step.
  2. If BRAKE light is flashing, go to BRAKE LIGHT FLASHING  under SYMPTOM DIAGNOSIS. If BRAKE light does not come on, go to BRAKE LIGHT OFF  under SYMPTOM DIAGNOSIS. If BRAKE light comes on and then goes off after 2 seconds, go to next step.
  3. Turn ignition off. Wait 10 seconds, turn ignition on. Press and hold brake pedal for 30 seconds. Check BRAKE light. If BRAKE light does not come on, but customer complained that BRAKE light was on, go to INTERMITTENT BRAKE LIGHT  under SYMPTOM DIAGNOSIS. If BRAKE light comes on and stays on, go to next step.
  4. Turn ignition off. Check for stored trouble codes. See RETRIEVING CODES . If Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) are present, go to appropriate DTC under TROUBLE CODES . If no DTCs are present, system is okay.
