Fuel Tank - Vehicles With: Extended Range Fuel Tank: Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation steps.
  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: JACKING AND LIFTING
  2. Release the fuel system pressure. Refer to: FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE
  3. Disconnect the battery ground cable. Refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect CHARGING SYSTEM - (BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES)
  4. Drain the fuel tank. Refer to: Fuel Tank Draining .
  5. Disconnect the quick release couplings and detach the retainer clip. Refer to: QUICK RELEASE COUPLING

  6. Detach the auxiliary fuel line clip from body.

  7. Support the fuel tank with a transmission jack and remove the fuel tank strap bolts.Use the General Equipment: Transmission Jack

    Torque: 48 Nm

  8. NOTE: Make sure that no strain is placed on the fuel lines and wiring harnesses.

    Lower the fuel tank slowly to access the quick connector and electrical connectors.

    • Disconnect the electrical connectors and detach the wiring harness clip.

  9. Disconnect the electrical connectors and detach the wiring harness clip.

  10. NOTE: The procedure step requires the aid of the another technician.

    Remove the fuel tank.
