Fuel Tank - Vehicles With: Midship Fuel Tank: Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
  2. Release the fuel system pressure. Refer to: Fuel System Pressure Release .
  3. Disconnect the battery ground cable. Refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect .
  4. Drain the fuel tank. Refer to: Fuel Tank Draining .
  5. NOTE: Typical application shown.

    Loosen the hose clamps and disconnect the fuel tank filler hose and vent hose from the fuel tank filler pipe.

    Torque: 44 lb.in (5 Nm)

  6. Disconnect the 2 fuel line quick release couplings. Refer to: Quick Release Coupling .

    Disconnect the EVAP canister quick release couplings. Refer to: Quick Release Coupling .

    Using a suitable lifting and lowering tool, support the fuel tank. Remove the fuel tank strap bolts and partially lower the fuel tank for access.

    Torque: 30 lb.ft (40 Nm)

    Disconnect the electrical connectors and remove the fuel tank.
