Pinpoint Test R : B102E:11, B102E:15, B102E:92

  1. Refer to Manual Climate Control System for schematic and connector information.

    Normal Operation and Fault Conditions 

    Ambient air quality sensor, REFER to: Climate Control System - Vehicles With: Electronic Manual Temperature Control (EMTC) - System Operation and Component Description .

    DTC Fault Trigger Conditions 

    DTC Description Fault Trigger Condition
    FCIM B102E:11 Air Quality Sensor: Circuit Short To Ground Module senses lower than expected voltage on the sensor feedback circuit, indicating a short to ground.
    FCIM B102E:15 Air Quality Sensor: Circuit Short To Battery Or Open Module senses greater than expected voltage on the sensor feedback circuit, indicating a short to voltage or an open circuit or sensor.
    FCIM B102E:92 Air Quality Sensor: Performance Or Incorrect Operation Module senses erratic voltages from the sensor.

    Possible Sources 

    • Wiring, terminals or connectors
    • Ambient air quality sensor
    • FCIM

  2. NOTE: Use the correct probe adapter(s) when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may cause damage to the connector.
  3. R1 CHECK THE AMBIENT AIR QUALITY SENSOR CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Disconnect FCIM C2402A.

    • Disconnect ambient air quality sensor C1744.

    • Disconnect BJB fuse 23 (15A).

    • Ignition ON.

    • Measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

    Is there any voltage present? 

    Yes  REPAIR the circuit in question.
    No  GO to  R2
  4. R2 CHECK THE AMBIENT AIR QUALITY SENSOR CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO GROUND

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

    Are the resistances greater than 10, 000 ohms? 

    Yes  GO to  R3
    No  REPAIR the circuit in question.
  5. R3 CHECK THE AMBIENT AIR QUALITY SENSOR CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN

    • Measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

    Are the resistances less than 3 ohms? 

    Yes  GO to  R4
    No  REPAIR the circuit in question.
  6. R4 CHECK THE AMBIENT AIR QUALITY SENSOR CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TOGETHER

    Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms? 

    Yes  INSTALL a new ambient air quality sensor. REFER to the appropriate procedure in Removal And Installation  . TEST the system for normal operation. If the concern is still present, GO to  R5
    No  REPAIR the circuits.
  7. R5 CHECK FOR CORRECT FCIM (FRONT CONTROLS INTERFACE MODULE) OPERATION

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Disconnect and inspect all the FCIM connectors.

    • Repair:

      • corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
      • damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
      • pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary

    • Reconnect the FCIM connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.

    • Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.

    Is the concern still present? 

    Yes  CHECK OASIS for any applicable service articles: TSB, GSB, SSM or FSA. If a service article exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW the service article instructions. If no service articles address this concern, Refer to FCIM Guided Routine ..
    No  The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
