Pinpoint Test H : B1B52:12, B1B52:14
- NOTE: Before disconnecting the rear parking aid speaker, verify the connector is properly seated and latched.
Refer to Parking Aid for schematic and connector information.
Normal Operation and Fault Conditions
The PAM generates the audible warning tones for the rear parking aid system via a hardwired speaker.
DTC Fault Trigger Conditions
DTC Description Fault Trigger Condition PAM B1B52:12 Rear Sounder- Park Aid: Circuit Short To Battery A continuous DTC that sets in the PAM when the rear parking aid speaker circuits are shorted to battery voltage. PAM B1B52:14 Rear Sounder- Park Aid: Circuit Short To Ground Or Open A continuous DTC that sets in the PAM when the rear parking aid speaker circuits are shorted to ground or open. Possible Sources
- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- Rear parking aid speaker
- PAM
- H1 CHECK THE PAM (PARKING ASSIST CONTROL MODULE) CONTINUOUS MEMORY DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (CMDTCS)
- Ignition ON.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, retrieve the PAM Continuous Memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes (CMDTCs)
Is DTC B1B52:12 or B1B52:14 present?
Yes For DTC B1B52:12, GO to H5 For DTC B1B52:14, GO to H2 No The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by an intermittent condition. INSPECT the wiring and connectors and REPAIR as necessary. - H2 CHECK THE REAR PARKING AID SPEAKER CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect PAM C4014A.
Are the resistances greater than 10, 000 ohms?
Yes GO to H3 No REPAIR the circuit in question. - H3 CHECK THE REAR PARKING AID SPEAKER CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN
- Disconnect Rear Parking Aid Speaker C9074.
Are the resistances less than 3 ohms?
Yes GO to H4 No REPAIR the circuit in question. - H4 CHECK THE REAR PARKING AID SPEAKER CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TOGETHER
Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms?
Yes INSTALL a new rear parking aid speaker. REFER to: Rear Parking Aid Speaker . If the concern is still present after speaker replacement, GO to H7 No REPAIR the circuits. - H5 CHECK THE PAM (PARKING ASSIST CONTROL MODULE) CONTINUOUS MEMORY DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (CMDTCS) WITH THE REAR PARKING AID SPEAKER DISCONNECTED
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect Rear Parking Aid Speaker C9074.
- Ignition ON.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, clear the PAM Continuous Memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes (CMDTCs)
- Ignition OFF.
- Wait 10 seconds.
- Ignition ON.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, retrieve the PAM Continuous Memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes (CMDTCs)
Is DTC B1B52:12 still present?
Yes GO to H6 No INSTALL a new rear parking aid speaker. REFER to: Rear Parking Aid Speaker . - H6 CHECK THE REAR PARKING AID SENSOR CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect PAM C4014A.
- Ignition ON.
Is any voltage present?
Yes REPAIR the circuit(s) in question. No GO to H7 - H7 CHECK FOR CORRECT PAM (PARKING ASSIST CONTROL MODULE) OPERATION
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect and inspect the PAM connectors.
- Repair:
- corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
- damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
- Reconnect the PAM connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.
- Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
Yes CHECK OASIS for any applicable Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs). If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) address this concern, INSTALL a new PAM. REFER to: Parking Assist Control Module (PAM) . No The system is operating correctly at this time. Concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
