Pinpoint Test C : SELECTSHIFT™ (8F35 Transmission)

Normal Operation and Fault Conditions
The SelectShift™ switch is a toggle switch integral to the selector lever knob. When the selector lever is placed in the M position, the upshift/downshift feature becomes activated. If a new switch is required install a new selector lever knob.
Possible Sources
- Connectors damaged or pushed-out terminals, corrosion, loose wires and missing or damaged seals
- SelectShift™ switch
- 1.5L TCM
- 2.0L PCM
- C1 CHECK THE SELECTSHIFT™ CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect For vehicles equipped with the 1.5L, TCM C1750.
- Disconnect For vehicles equipped with the 2.0L, PCM C1915B.
- Disconnect Selector Lever C2096.
- Inspect for damaged or pushed-out terminals.
- Measure:
For the 1.5L
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C2096-5 C1750-30 C2096-6 C1750-33 C2096-4 C1750-12
- Measure.
For the 2.0L
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C2096-5 C1915B-6 C2096-6 C1915B-5 C2096-4 C1915B-4
Are the resistances less than 3 ohms?
Yes GO to C2 No REPAIR the circuit. - C2 CHECK THE SELECTSHIFT™ CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Measure.
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C2096-5 Ground C2096-6 Ground C2096-4 Ground
Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms?
Yes GO to C3 No REPAIR the circuit. - Measure.
- C3 CHECK THE SELECTSHIFT™ SWITCH UPSHIFT CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Connect Selector Lever C2096.
Is the resistance less than 1.5 ohms with upshift selected and greater than 10, 000 ohms when released?
Yes GO to C4 No REFER to: Selector Lever Assembly . - C4 CHECK THE SELECTSHIFT™ SWITCH DOWNSHIFT SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
Is the resistance less than 1.5 ohms with downshift selected and greater than 10, 000 ohms when released?
Yes For the 2.0L, CHECK OASIS for any applicable TSB. If a TSB exists for this concern, discontinue this test and follow the TSB instructions. If no TSB address this concern. INSTALL a new PCM. Refer to PCM Guided Routine Testing . No REFER to: Selector Lever Assembly .
