Pinpoint Test B : SELECTSHIFT™ (6F35 Transmission)

  1. Refer to Transmission Controls - 6F35 for schematic and connector information.

    Normal Operation and Fault Conditions 

    The SelectShift™ switch is a toggle switch integral to the selector lever knob. When the selector lever is placed in the M position, the upshift/downshift feature becomes activated. If a new switch is required install a new selector lever knob.

    Possible Sources 

    • Connectors damaged or pushed-out terminals, corrosion, loose wires and missing or damaged seals
    • SelectShift™ switch
    • PCM

  2. B1 CHECK THE SELECTSHIFT™ CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Disconnect For the 2.5L engine, PCM C175B.

    • Disconnect Selector Lever C2096.

    • Inspect for damaged or pushed-out terminals.

    Is the resistance less than 3 ohms? 

    Yes  GO to  B2
    No  REPAIR the circuit.

  3. B2 CHECK THE SELECTSHIFT™ CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO GROUND

    • Measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

    Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms? 

    Yes  GO to  B3
    No  REPAIR the circuit.

  4. B3 CHECK THE SELECTSHIFT™ SWITCH UPSHIFT SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN

    • Connect Selector Lever C2096.

    • Measure:
      Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

    Is the resistance less than 1.5 ohms with upshift selected and greater than 10, 000 ohms when released? 

    Yes  GO to  B4
    No  REFER to: Selector Lever Assembly .

  5. B4 CHECK THE SELECTSHIFT™ SWITCH DOWNSHIFT SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN

    • Measure.

    Is the resistance less than 1.5 ohms with downshift selected and greater than 10, 000 ohms when released? 

    Yes  CHECK OASIS for any applicable TSB. If a TSB exists for this concern, discontinue this test and follow the TSB instructions. If no TSB address this concern, INSTALL a new PCM. REFER to: Powertrain Control Module (PCM) .
    No  REFER to: Selector Lever Assembly .
