Pinpoint Test E : B10D9:87

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2018 Ford EcoSport. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Refer to Passive Anti-Theft System for schematic and connector information.

    Normal Operation and Fault Conditions

Refer to: Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) - System Operation and Component Description .

    DTC Fault Trigger Conditions

    DTC Description Fault Trigger Condition
BCM B10D9:87 PATS Transponder: Missing Message Sets when the BCM loses communication with the PATS transceiver.

    Possible Sources

    • Wiring, terminals or connectors
    • PATS transceiver
    • BCM

  2. NOTE: Use the correct probe adapter(s) when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may damage the connector.
  3. E1 CHECK FOR DTC (DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE) C113A:11 OR C113A:15

    • Review the results from the BCM self-test.

Is DTC C113A:11 or C113A:15 present?

Yes  GO to Pinpoint Test F
    No  GO to  E2
  4. E2 CHECK FOR VOLTAGE TO THE PATS (PASSIVE ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM) TRANSCEIVER

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Disconnect: PATS Transceiver C252.

    • Ignition ON.

    • Measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

Is the voltage greater than 11 volts?

    Yes  GO to  E4
    No  GO to  E3
  5. E3 CHECK THE PATS (PASSIVE ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM) TRANSCEIVER VOLTAGE SUPPLY CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Disconnect: BCM C2280D.

    • Measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead
      C252-1

      C2280D-16

Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?

    Yes  GO to  E8
    No  REPAIR the circuit.
  6. E4 CHECK THE PATS (PASSIVE ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM) TRANSCEIVER GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN

    • Measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead
      C252-1

      C252-4

Is the voltage greater than 11 volts?

    Yes  GO to  E5
    No  REPAIR the circuit.
  7. E5 CHECK THE LIN (LOCAL INTERCONNECT NETWORK) CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Disconnect: BCM C2280D.

    • Ignition ON.

    • Measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead
      C252-3

      Ground

Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms?

    Yes  GO to  E7
    No  REPAIR the circuit.
  9. E7 CHECK THE LIN (LOCAL INTERCONNECT NETWORK) CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN

    • Measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead
      C252-3
      GFD328537Courtesy of FORD MOTOR COMPANY
      C2280D-9

Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?

Yes  INSTALL a new PATS transceiver. Refer to: Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) Transceiver . CLEAR the Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) and repeat the BCM self-test. If DTC B10D9:87 is retrieved again, GO to  E8
    No  REPAIR the circuit.
  10. E8 CHECK FOR CORRECT BCM (BODY CONTROL MODULE) OPERATION

    • Disconnect and inspect all of the BCM connectors.

    • Repair:

      • corrosion (install new connectors or terminals, clean module pins)
      • damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
      • pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary

    • Reconnect all the BCM connectors and make sure they seat and latch correctly.

    • Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.

    Is the concern still present?

Yes  CHECK OASIS for any applicable service articles: TSB, GSB, SSM, or FSA. If a service article exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW the service article instructions. If no service articles address this concern, BCM Guided Routine Testing
No  The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. Address the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
