Pinpoint Test F : The Odometer Is Inoperative

See Odometer. REFER to: Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) - System Operation and Component Description .
If the odometer count message is missing from the PCM through the GWM for 5 seconds or longer, the IPC defaults the odometer display to all dashes (------).
If the odometer count message is deemed invalid by the IPC, the IPC defaults the odometer display to all dashes (------). If the NVM becomes corrupted or if any NVM failure occurs, odometer displays ERROR.

- Communication concern
- GWM concern
- PCM
- IPC
- F1 CHECK FOR CORRUPTED NON-VOLATILE MEMORY (NVM)
- Ignition ON.
- Observe the message center display area.
Does the odometer display ERROR?
Yes INSTALL a new IPC. REFER to: Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) . No GO to F2 - F2 PERFORM THE IPC (INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER) SELF-TEST
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the IPC self-test.
Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded?
Yes REFER to DTC Chart: Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) No GO to F3 - F3 PERFORM THE PCM (POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE) KOEO (KEY ON, ENGINE OFF) SELF-TEST
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the PCM KOEO self-test.
- Check for recorded Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) from the PCM self-test.
Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded?
Yes REFER to ELECTRONIC ENGINE CONTROLS (1.0L) or refer to ELECTRONIC ENGINE CONTROLS (2.0L) No GO to F4 - F4 CHECK THE GWM (GATEWAY MODULE A) DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS)
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, check the GWM Continuous Memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).
Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded?
Yes No Refer to PCM GUIDED ROUTINE TESTING
