Pinpoint Test An : The Cruise Control RTT (RECONFIGURABLE Telltale) Indicator Is Never On

  1. Normal Operation and Fault Conditions 

    See Cruise Control RTT Indicator. REFER to: Message Center - System Operation and Component Description .

    If the cruise control status message is missing or deemed invalid by the IPC for less than 5 seconds, the IPC defaults the cruise control RTT indicator to the last indication state (on or off), based upon the last message received.

    If the cruise control status message is missing or if the data is deemed invalid by the IPC for 5 seconds or longer, the IPC defaults the cruise control RTT indicator off.

    Possible Sources 

    • Communication concern
    • Cruise control concern
    • IPC

  2. AN1 CHECK THE MESSAGE CENTER OPERATION

    • Ignition ON.

    • Monitor the compass and outside air temperature displays in the message center.

    Do the compass and outside air temperature displays operate? 

    Yes  GO to  AN2
    No  GO to Pinpoint Test A 
  3. AN2 CHECK THE CRUISE CONTROL OPERATION

    • Verify the cruise control operates correctly.

    Does the cruise control operate? 

    Yes  GO to  AN3
    No  REFER to: Cruise Control .
  4. AN3 PERFORM THE IPC (INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER) SELF-TEST

    • Ignition ON.

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the IPC self-test.

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    Yes  REFER to DTC Chart: Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) 
    No  GO to  AN4
  5. AN4 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCS FROM THE PCM (POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE) SELF-TEST

    • Ignition ON.

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the PCM self-test.

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    Yes  REFER to ELECTRONIC ENGINE CONTROLS (1.0L) or refer to ELECTRONIC ENGINE CONTROLS (2.0L)
    No  GO to  AN5
  6. AN5 CHECK THE GWM (GATEWAY MODULE A) DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS)

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, check the GWM Continuous Memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes (CMDTCs).

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    Yes 
    No  INSTALL a new IPC. REFER to: Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) .
