- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
- Release the fuel system pressure. Refer to: Fuel System Pressure Release .
- Disconnect the battery ground. Refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect .

NOTE: Note the position of the component before removal.
On both sides. Mark the hood hinge location on both sides.
- Remove the retainers and the hood insulator.

- Disconnect the windshield washer hose.
- With the aid of an assistant, remove the nuts and the hood.
- Remove the cowl panel grille. Refer to: Cowl Panel Grille .
- Remove the bolts and the cowl panel.
- Drain the engine cooling system. Refer to: Cooling System Draining, Vacuum Filling and Bleeding .
- Remove the following items:
- Starter. Refer to: Starter Motor .
- Catalytic converter. Refer to: Catalytic Converter .

- Disconnect the turbocharger boost pressure (TCBP) and charger air cooler temperature (CACT) sensor electrical connector.
- Disconnect the crankcase pressure sensor electrical connector.
- Detach the wiring harness retainer.

- Disconnect the vacuum hose. Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer
- Disconnect the quick release couplings. Refer to: Quick Release Coupling .
- Remove the nuts.
- Loosen the clamp and remove the TC inlet pipe.

- Disconnect the EVAP purge valve electrical connector.
- Disconnect the quick release couplings. Refer to: Quick Release Coupling .
- Detach the retainers and remove the EVAP tube assembly.

- Remove the CAC outlet pipe bracket bolt.
- Loosen the clamps and remove the CAC outlet pipe.

NOTE: Be prepared to collect escaping fluid.
- Disconnect the degas bottle coolant tubes.
- Release the clamp and disconnect the degas bottle coolant hose. Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer
- Release the tabs and remove the degas bottle.

NOTE: Be prepared to collect escaping fluid.
Release clamps and disconnect the coolant hoses. Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer

- Remove the CAC inlet pipe mounting nuts and bolt.
- Loosen the clamp and remove the CAC inlet pipe.

Release clamps and disconnect the coolant hoses. Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer

NOTE: Be prepared to collect escaping fluid.
Release clamp and disconnect the coolant hose. Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer

NOTE: Be prepared to collect escaping fluid.
- Detach the wiring harness retainers.
- Release clamps and disconnect the coolant hoses. Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer
- Disconnect the CKP sensor electrical connector and detach the wiring harness retainers.

- Remove the cap, the nut and detach the battery cable.
- Disconnect the generator electrical connector and detach the wiring harness retainers.
- Detach the wiring harness retainers.
- Disconnect the CMP sensors and ignition coils electrical connectors.
- Detach the wiring harness retainers.
- Disconnect the VCT electrical connectors.
- Disconnect the throttle body electrical connector.

- Disconnect the MAP sensor and fuel injection harness electrical connectors.
- Detach the wiring harness retainers.

NOTE: Be prepared to collect escaping fluid.
Release clamp and disconnect the coolant hose. Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer

- Remove and discard the nuts and the axle bearing strap.
- Remove the bolts and the axle shaft bracket.
- Disconnect the oil control solenoid electrical connector.
- Detach the wiring harness retainer.
- Disconnect the oil pressure switch, the KS and vacuum solenoid electrical connectors.
- Detach the wiring harness retainer.
- Remove the ground cable bolt.
- Detach the wiring harness retainers.
- Disconnect the ECT sensor electrical connector.
- Disconnect the CHT electrical connector.
- Disconnect the vacuum solenoid electrical connector.

NOTE: Be prepared to collect escaping fluid.
Disconnect the degas bottle coolant tube.
- Disconnect the high-pressure fuel pump electrical connector and detach the wiring harness retainer.
- Remove the bolts and the bracket.

NOTE: Be prepared to collect escaping fluid.
Disconnect the fuel supply tube. Refer to: Spring Lock Couplings .
- Remove the drain plug, drain engine oil and install drain plug. Use the General Equipment: Oil Drain Equipment
Torque
: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

NOTE: Be prepared to collect escaping fluid.
Remove and discard the engine oil filter.
- Remove the transmission-to-engine bolt.
- Remove the transmission-to-engine bolts.
- Position a wooden block and floor jack under the transmission. Use the General Equipment: Trolley Jack. Use the General Equipment: Wooden Block
- Install the lift equipment. Use the General Equipment: Lifting Bracket. Use the General Equipment: Floor Crane

NOTE: Note the position of the component before removal.
Remove the bolts, nuts and the RH engine mount.
- Remove the transmission-to-engine bolts.
- Remove the transmission-to-engine bolt.
- Separate the engine from the transmission.

NOTE: Make sure that no components catch.
With the aid of an assistant, remove the engine from the vehicle.
