Pinpoint Test C : No Power In On - Conventional Ignition Switch
- C1 PERFORM A NETWORK TEST
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the network test.
Does the IPC pass the network test?
Yes GO to C2 No DIAGNOSE a network communication concern.REFER to: Communications Network . - C2 CHECK THE IGNITION SWITCH (IGN_SW_RUN) PID (PARAMETER IDENTIFICATION)
- Ignition ON.

NOTE: It may be necessary to use a tear tag or PCM part number to start a vehicle session on the diagnostic scan tool.
Using a diagnostic scan tool, view BCM Parameter Identifications (PIDs).
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, monitor the BCM PID IGN_SW_RUN.
Does the PID indicate Active?
Yes GO to C5 No GO to C3 - C3 CHECK FOR VOLTAGE TO THE BCM (BODY CONTROL MODULE)
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect BCM C2280C .
- Ignition ON.
- Measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead C2280C-43 Ground
Is the voltage greater than 11 volts?
Yes GO to C18 No GO to C4 - C4 CHECK THE IGNITION ON-DESIGNATED INPUT CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect Ignition Switch C250 .
Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?
Yes INSTALL a new ignition switch.REFER to: Ignition Switch . No REPAIR the circuit. - C5 CHECK THE REAR WINDOW WIPER OPERATION
- Observe the rear window wiper while placing the wiper/washer switch to the rear wiper INT 2 position and then off.
Does the rear window wiper operate?
Yes GO to C6 No GO to C12 - C6 CHECK THE RJB (REAR JUNCTION BOX) ACCESSORY RELAY
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect RJB Accessory Relay.
- Substitute a known good relay.
- Ignition ON.
- Check the operation of the front heated seats, the roof opening panel, the parking aid system or the DC/AC inverter.
Does the system now operate?
Yes REMOVE the known good relay. INSTALL a new RJB accessory relay. No REMOVE the known good relay. GO to C7 - C7 CHECK THE RJB (REAR JUNCTION BOX) ACCESSORY RELAY COIL VOLTAGE SUPPLY CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Ignition OFF.
Is the voltage greater than 11 volts?
Yes GO to C8 No VERIFY the high current battery fuse (150A) is OK. If OK, REPAIR the circuit. If not OK, REFER to the Wiring Diagrams information to identify the possible causes of the circuit short. - C8 CHECK THE RJB (REAR JUNCTION BOX) ACCESSORY RELAY BJB (BATTERY JUNCTION BOX) SUPPLIED VOLTAGE CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
Is the voltage greater than 11 volts?
Yes GO to C9 No REPAIR the circuit. - C9 CHECK THE RJB (REAR JUNCTION BOX) ACCESSORY RELAY OUTPUT CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Connect:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead
RJB Accessory Relay, Pin 3
RJB Accessory Relay, Pin 5
- Ignition ON.
- Check the operation of the front heated seats, the roof opening panel, the parking aid system or the DC/AC inverter.
Does the system now operate?
Yes REMOVE the fused jumper wire. GO to C10 No REMOVE the fused jumper wire. REPAIR the circuit. - Connect:
- C10 CHECK THE RJB (REAR JUNCTION BOX) ACCESSORY RELAY COIL CONTROL CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect BCM C2280B .
- Ignition ON.
Is any voltage present?
Yes REPAIR the circuit. No GO to C11 - C11 CHECK THE RJB (REAR JUNCTION BOX) ACCESSORY RELAY COIL CONTROL CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Ignition OFF.
- Connect:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?
Yes GO to C18 No REPAIR the circuit. - C12 CHECK THE IGNITION RELAY
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect Ignition Relay.
- Substitute a known good relay.
- Ignition ON.
- Observe the rear window wiper while placing the wiper/washer switch to the rear wiper INT 2 position and then off.
Does the rear window wiper operate?
Yes REMOVE the known good relay. INSTALL a new ignition relay. No REMOVE the known good relay. GO to C13 - C13 CHECK THE IGNITION RELAY COIL VOLTAGE SUPPLY CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Ignition OFF.
Is the voltage greater than 11 volts?
Yes GO to C14 No VERIFY the BJB fuse 24 (5A) is OK. If OK, REPAIR the circuit for an open. If not OK, REFER to the Wiring Diagrams information to identify the possible causes of the circuit short. - C14 CHECK THE BCM (BODY CONTROL MODULE) CONTROL OF THE IGNITION RELAY COIL CIRCUITNOTE: The following pinpoint test step uses a test lamp to simulate normal circuit loads. Use only a Rotunda Test Lamp (SGT27000) or 250-300mA incandescent bulb test lamp. To avoid connector terminal damage, use the Rotunda Flex Probe kit for the test lamp probe connection to the vehicle. Do not use the test lamp probe directly on any connector.
- Connect:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

- Ignition ON.
Does the test lamp illuminate?
Yes DISCONNECT the test lamp. GO to C15 No DISCONNECT the test lamp. GO to C16 - Connect:
- C15 CHECK THE IGNITION RELAY BJB (BATTERY JUNCTION BOX) SUPPLIED VOLTAGE CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Ignition OFF.
Is the voltage greater than 11 volts?
Yes REPAIR the ignition relay output circuit (CDC21 (GN/BN)) for an open. No VERIFY the high current BJB fuse 1 (80A) is OK. If OK, REPAIR the ignition relay BJB voltage supply circuit (SDC02 (RD)) for an open. If not OK, REFER to the Wiring Diagrams information to identify the possible causes of the circuit short. - C16 CHECK THE IGNITION RELAY COIL CONTROL CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect BCM C2280D .
- Connect:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead
Ignition Relay, Pin 3
Ignition Relay, Pin 5
- Ignition ON.
Is any voltage present?
Yes REMOVE the fused jumper wire. REPAIR the circuit. No REMOVE the fused jumper wire. GO to C17 - C17 CHECK THE IGNITION RELAY COIL CONTROL CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Ignition OFF.
- Measure:
Positive Lead Measurement / Action Negative Lead

Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?
Yes GO to C18 No REPAIR the circuit. - C18 CHECK FOR CORRECT BCM (BODY CONTROL MODULE) OPERATION
- Disconnect and inspect all BCM connectors.
- Repair:
- corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
- damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
- Reconnect the BCM connectors and make sure they seat and latch correctly.
- Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
Yes CHECK OASIS for any applicable Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs). If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) address this concern, INSTALL a new BCM.REFER to: Body Control Module (BCM) . No The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
