Engine Front Cover: Removal

- Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES article.
- Drain the engine coolant. For additional information, refer to ENGINE COOLING article.
- Remove the accessory drive belt. For additional information, refer to ACCESSORY DRIVE article.
- Remove the fan and shroud assembly. For additional information, refer to ENGINE COOLING article.
- Remove the bolts and the coolant pump pulley.
- Remove the nut and detach the wiring harness bracket.
- Remove the nut and position the bracket aside.
- Remove the stud bolts from the A/C compressor mounting bracket.
- Remove the bolt and the accessory drive belt tensioner.
- Remove the bolts and position the power steering bracket and compressor aside.
- Disconnect the heater hose at the coolant pump.
- Disconnect the lower radiator hose assembly at the coolant pump outlet and lower intake manifold.
- Remove the crankshaft front seal. For additional information, refer to Lower End Components - Exploded View or Crankshaft Front Seal in this article.
- Remove the oil pan. For additional information, refer to Engine Lubrication Components - Exploded View or Oil Pan - Rear Wheel Drive (RWD) or Oil Pan - Four Wheel Drive (4WD) in this article.
- Remove the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor.
- Disconnect the CKP sensor electrical connector.
- Remove the 2 bolts.
- Remove the CKP sensor.
- Remove the engine front cover and the coolant pump as an assembly.
- Remove the bolts.
- Remove and discard the front cover gasket.
