Engine Front Cover: Installation

- Clean all sealing surfaces and position a new front cover gasket.
- Position the engine front cover.
- Apply pipe sealant with PTFE to the bolts to be installed in the locations shown.
- Install the engine front cover bolts.
- Tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).
- Position the CKP and install the 2 bolts.
- Tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
- Connect the CKP sensor electrical connector.
- Install the oil pan. For additional information, refer to Engine Lubrication Components - Exploded View or Oil Pan - Rear Wheel Drive (RWD) or Oil Pan - Four Wheel Drive (4WD) in this article.
- Install the crankshaft front seal. For additional information, refer to Lower End Components - Exploded View or Crankshaft Front Seal in this article.
- Connect the lower radiator hose assembly at the coolant pump outlet and lower intake manifold.
- Connect the heater hose at the coolant pump.
- Position back the A/C compressor and power steering bracket. Install the bolts.
- Tighten to 47 Nm (35 lb-ft).
- Install the accessory drive belt tensioner and install the bolt.
- Tighten to 27 Nm (20 lb-ft).
- Install the stud bolts to the A/C compressor mounting bracket.
- Tighten to 47 Nm (35 lb-ft).
- Position the bracket and install the nut.
- Tighten to 11 Nm (8 lb-ft).
- Position the wiring harness bracket and install the nut.
- Tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
- Install the coolant pump pulley and the bolts.
- Tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).
- Install the fan and shroud assembly. For additional information, refer to ENGINE COOLING article.
- Install the accessory drive belt. For additional information, refer to ACCESSORY DRIVE article.
- Connect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES article.
- Fill and bleed the cooling system. For additional information, refer to ENGINE COOLING article.
