Symptom Chart - Wipers and Washers

SYMPTOM CHART - WIPERS AND WASHERS

  • The high/low wiper speeds do not operate correctly - windshield

  • If the washer pump is inoperative, GO to PINPOINT TEST H .
  • If the washer pump is operative, INSTALL a new windshield wiper motor. TEST the system for normal operation.

  • Rear window wiper motor
  • If the washer pump is operative, INSTALL a new rear wiper motor. TEST the system for normal operation.
  • The washer pump is inoperative
  • Circuitry
  • Washer pump motor
  • Multifunction switch
  • Windshield wiper motor
  • Rear window wiper motor
  • Blocked washer hose
  • The washer pump activates for 10 seconds whenever the ignition is turned on - front
  • Circuitry
  • CARRY OUT the Multifunction Switch Component Test.

    Refer to COMPONENT TESTING for component testing.

  • Multifunction switch
  • CHECK circuit CRW17 (GY/BN) for a short to ground.
  • Windshield wiper motor
  • The washer pump activates for 10 seconds whenever the ignition is turned on - rear
  • Circuitry
  • CARRY OUT the Multifunction Switch Component Test.

    Refer to COMPONENT TESTING for component testing.

  • Multifunction switch
  • CHECK circuit CRW20 (GY/YE) for a short to ground.
  • Rear wiper motor
  • The speed dependent interval mode does not operate correctly
  • Circuitry
  • Windshield wiper motor
  • PCM
  • The wipers will not park at the correct position
  • Damaged wiper mounting arm and pivot shaft
  • Windshield wiper motor
  • If the wipers immediately stop on the windshield as soon as they are turned off, INSTALL a new windshield wiper motor.

  • The wipers will not park at the correct position - rear window
  • Pivot arm adjustment
  • The headlamps do not illuminate when the wipers are on
