Test V: Message Center Not Operating Correctly

Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Observe odometer display on instrument cluster. If odometer is displayed, go to next step. If odometer is not displayed, perform TEST S: ODOMETER INOPERATIVE .
Using New Generation Star (NGS) tester, select MCM MESSAGE CENTER DISPLAY CHARACTER active command. Trigger SEGMENTS active command ON. Observe right digital message center display. If message center display illuminates all segments, system is operating properly at this time. If SELECT or RESET buttons are inoperative, perform TEST W: MESSAGE CENTER SWITCH NOT OPERATING CORRECTLY . If message center display does not illuminate all segments, go to next step.
Disconnect all instrument cluster harness connectors. Inspect for corrosion and pushed out pins. Connect all instrument cluster harness connectors, ensuring they seat correctly. Operate system and verify if concern is still present. If concern is still present, replace instrument cluster. Clear DTCs and perform instrument cluster self-test. If concern is not present, system is operating correctly at this time. Concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
