Self-Diagnostic System

Connect New Generation Star (NGS) tester to Data Link Connector (DLC), located beneath instrument cluster. Using NGS tester, perform data link diagnostics test. If NGS tester responds with CKT914, CKT915 or CKT70=ALL ECUS NO RESP/NOT EQUIP, repair module communications concern. See MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK - ECONOLINE article. If NGS tester displays NO RESP/NOT EQUIP for Natural Gas Vehicle (NGV) module, perform TEST S: NO COMMUNICATION WITH NATURAL GAS VEHICLE MODULE  under SYSTEM TESTS.

If NGS tester responds with SYSTEM PASSED, retrieve and record continuous DTCs. Erase continuous DTCs. Using NGS tester, perform NGV module self-test. Perform appropriate test in accordance with DTC retrieved. See NATURAL GAS VEHICLE MODULE DTC INDEX  table. Codes listed in this table are only for testing covered in this article.
