Optional Restricted Features

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2010 Mercury Mariner and 2010 Ford Escape. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: If programming or configuring a MyKey™, but then decide to clear the key instead, do not turn the key to the OFF position. Follow the Disable MyKey™ Restricted Features procedure in this article to clear the key of any restricted MyKey™ status. If necessary, refer to MYKEY(TM) for MyKey™ system checks and system warnings displays.
NOTE: The key that is being programmed with the MyKey™ feature must first already be programmed into the Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS).
  1. Insert a programmed PATS  ignition key into the ignition lock cylinder and turn the key from the OFF to the ON position. This key must be the one that is being programmed to the MyKey™ restricted status.
  2. Using the message center buttons:
    1. Press the SETUP button until PRESS RESET TO CREATE MYKEY appears in the message center display.
    2. Press and release the RESET button. HOLD RESET TO CONFIRM MYKEY is displayed.
    3. Press and hold the RESET button (for approximately 2 seconds) until MARK THIS KEY AS RESTRICTED is displayed.
    4. Wait until KEY RESTRICTED AT NEXT START is displayed, then release the RESET button.
  3. The MyKey™ feature (standard restricted features) is successfully programmed into this particular key. Make sure it is labeled for easy identification. To customize the MyKey™ with the audio volume limited, maximum speed limit, speed alert chimes, and AdvanceTrac® on/off restrictions, refer to CONFIGURING MYKEY™ OPTIONAL RESTRICTED FEATURES .
