WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Ford Pickup. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Connect New Generation Star tester (NGS) to DLC connector. Turn ignition to ON position. Select instrument cluster WARNING LAMPS AND CHIMES active command. Activate ALL LAMPS on while observing the check gauge indicator. If indicator illuminates, go to next step. If indicator does not illuminate, go to step  3.
  2. Start engine. Observe fuel, voltmeter and oil pressure gauge. If all gauges are operating correctly, go to next step. If any gauge is not operating correctly, diagnose by symptom. See SYMPTOM INDEX  table.
  3. Disconnect all instrument cluster harness connectors. Inspect harness connectors for corrosion and pushed out pins. Connect all instrument cluster harness connectors, ensuring they are connected correctly. Operate system and verify if concern is still present. If concern is still present, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If concern is not present, system is operating correctly at this time. Clear DTCs and perform self-test.
