Test J: Configuration Failure, No Powertrain Control Module Id Exchanged

Connect New Generation Star (NGS) tester to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located below center of instrument panel, right of steering column. Using NGS tester, perform instrument cluster self-test. If only DTC B2141 exists, go to next step. If DTC U1147 is also present with DTC 2141, go to TEST C: ANTI-THEFT NUMBER OF PROGRAMMED KEYS IS BELOW MINIMUM . If no DTCs are received, system is operating properly at this time.
With NGS tester connected to DLC, use diagnostic card for PCM active command keep alive memory reset. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Turn ignition switch to RUN position for 30 seconds. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Attempt to start vehicle. If vehicle does not start, go to next step. If vehicle starts, system is functioning properly at this time.
Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using NGS tester, retrieve and record instrument cluster continuous DTCs. Clear continuous DTCs. Perform self-test. If no DTCs exist, system is functioning properly at this time. If DTC B2141 exists, repeat step 2. If fault persists, verify PCM calibration for vehicle. Check for any PCM calibration related technical service bulletins. If PCM calibration is okay, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Cycle ignition switch to RUN position using 2 encoded ignition keys. Go to TEST I: POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE ID DOES NOT MATCH INSTRUMENT CLUSTER ID to match new instrument cluster ID to PCM. Repeat self-test and clear DTCs.
