Possible Causes

A right front seat belt pretensioner fault can be caused by faulty wiring, terminals, or connectors, faulty pretensioner or faulty air bag diagnostic monitor.

1. Verify condition
   
   Place air bag system in diagnostic mode and check for Code 1. See DIAGNOSIS MODE & RETRIEVING CODES  under DIAGNOSTICS. If AIR BAG warning light flashes Code 1, go to next step. If AIR BAG warning light does not flash Code 1, inspect air bag system wiring harness, connectors, spices and crimps for intermittent faults.
2. Check Yellow/Green wire
   
   Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disable air bag system. See DISABLING SYSTEM  under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM. Access and disconnect right front seat belt pretensioner connector. See SEAT BELT PRETENSIONERS  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Access and disconnect air bag diagnostic monitor connector C2003B. See DIAGNOSTIC MONITOR  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Measure resistance between harness side of air bag diagnostic monitor connector C2003B, terminal No. 10 and harness side of right front seat belt pretensioner connector (Yellow/Green wire, circuit No. PS07). If resistance is less than 0.24 ohm, go to next step. If resistance is more than 0.24 ohm, repair open or high resistance in Yellow/Green wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Reconnect and activate system. See ACTIVATING SYSTEM  under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM. Clear air bag system fault codes. See CLEARING CODES  under DIAGNOSTICS. Perform system operation check. 3. Check Yellow/Red wire
   
   Measure resistance between harness side of air bag diagnostic monitor connector C2003B, terminal No. 12 and harness side of right front seat belt pretensioner connector (Yellow/Red wire, circuit No. PS08). If resistance is less than 0.24 ohm, go to next step. If resistance is more than 0.24 ohm, repair open or high resistance in Yellow/Red wire. Reconnect and activate system. Clear air bag system fault codes. Perform system operation check.
4. Check Yellow/Green wire for short to ground
   
   Measure resistance between ground and harness side of air bag diagnostic monitor connector C2003B, terminal No. 10 (Yellow/Green wire). If resistance is more than 10 k/ohms, go to next step. If resistance is less than 10 k/ohms, repair short to ground in Yellow/Green wire. Reconnect and activate system. Clear air bag system fault codes. Perform system operation check.
5. Check Yellow/Red wire for short to ground
   
   Measure resistance between ground and harness side of air bag diagnostic monitor connector C2003B, terminal No. 12 (Yellow/Red wire). If resistance is more than 10 k/ohms, go to next step. If resistance is less than 10 k/ohms, repair short to ground in Yellow/Red wire. Reconnect and activate system. Clear air bag system fault codes. Perform system operation check.
6. Check right front seat belt retractor & pretensioner
   
   Reconnect air bag diagnostic monitor connector C2003B. Install known good right front seat belt pretensioner. Clear air bag system fault codes. See CLEARING CODES  under DIAGNOSTICS. Place air bag system in diagnostic mode and check for Code 1. If AIR BAG warning light flashes Code 1, install original seat belt pretensioner. Replace air bag diagnostic monitor. Reconnect and activate system. Clear air bag system fault codes. Perform system operation check. If AIR BAG warning light does not flash Code 1, fault is corrected. Reconnect and activate system. Clear air bag system fault codes. Perform system operation check.
