Section 2 (Body - Interior & Exterior - 500 - Electric): Interior: Headliner: Removal

NOTE:
In the event the headliner is damaged or creased during removal, it will need to be replaced with a new headliner.
NOTE:
Sunroof equipped headliner shown in the illustration, non sunroof headliner similar except where noted.
WARNING:
On vehicles equipped with the high voltage system, disconnecting the 12-volt battery negative cable alone will not power down the 12-volt system. You must perform the 12-volt Power Down procedure before proceeding. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
- On vehicles equipped with the high voltage system, power down the 12 volt system. Refer to 12-VOLT POWER DOWN .
- Disconnect the negative 12-volt battery cable.
- Use a suitable prop to hold the headliner in place.
- Remove the grab handle trim pieces (1, 2). Repeat for opposite side.
- Remove the fasteners (2) securing the grab handle (1).
- Remove the grab handle (1). Repeat for the opposite side.
- Remove the overhead console. Refer to CONSOLE, OVERHEAD, REMOVAL .
- Unclip the visor (2) from the support.
- Remove the screw (1) from the visor base.
- Slide the visor inward and out to remove. Repeat for opposite side.
- Remove the B-pillar trim. Refer to PANEL, B-PILLAR TRIM, REMOVAL .
- Remove the C-pillar trim. Refer to PANEL, C-PILLAR TRIM, REMOVAL .
- Remove the fastener (2) from the visor support (3) and remove.
- Using a small pick tool, remove the retaining clip from the coat hook (1) and remove the coat hook. Repeat for the opposite side.NOTE:
Non-sunroof equipped models proceed to step 18.
- Position the sunshade (2) in the closed position.
- Remove the sunroof trim lace (1) by holding one end of the trim lace (1) at the butt joint and pulling horizontally into the sunroof opening until the sunroof trim lace is removed to the sunroof shade (2) latch.
- Position the sunroof shade (2) in the open position.
- Remove the sunroof trim lace (1) completely loose from the headliner/sunroof joint.
- Non-sunroof equipped models, remove the front push pin fasteners from the headliner (2).
- Remove the rear push pin fasteners (1) from the headliner (2).
- Remove the prop supporting the headliner (1).
- Lower the headliner.
- Pull the headliner (1) rearward and out the liftgate area.
