Cover, Seat Cushion, Front: Removal

NOTE:

Before proceeding with the following procedure, review all Warnings and Cautions. Refer to WARNING  .

NOTE:

Passenger seat shown. Driver seat similar.

NOTE:

It is not necessary to remove the seat back from the seat to service the seat bottom cushion and cover.

  1. Remove the front seat being serviced and place it on a workbench. Refer to REMOVAL  .
  2. On the outboard side cover, using a small flat bladed tool or equivalent, remove the fastener covers from the recliner lever (1) and height adjuster lever (2).
  3. Remove the fastener (5) from the recliner lever (1).
  4. Remove the fastener (3) from the height adjuster lever (2).
  5. Remove the recliner lever (1) and the height adjuster lever (2).
  6. Remove the fastener from the rear of the side cover.

  7. On the front inner of the side cover (1), release the side cover clip (2) from the retainer the tab, with the use of a small flat bladed tool (3).
  8. Move the outboard side cover up and forward, releasing it from the seat.
  9. Disconnect the wiring connector from the heated seat switch, if so equipped.

  10. On the inboard side cover (1), using a small flat bladed tool or equivalent, remove the fastener cover from the side cover.
  11. Remove the fasteners (2) from the inboard side cover.
  12. Remove the fasteners (3) from the rear of the inboard side cover.
  13. Move the inboard side cover (1) up and forward, releasing it from the seat.

  14. From the bottom of the seat, disconnect the occupant detection sensor wiring connector (2).
  15. Disconnect the heated seat wiring connector, if so equipped.
  16. Unfasten the seat wiring harness routing clips (1).

  17. Disengage the J-clips (1) that secure the seat cover (1) to the seat cushion frame.

  18. From the bottom of the seat, disengage the J-clips (4) that secure the seat cushion cover (1) to the seat cushion frame suspension.
  19. Disengage the J-clips (3) that secure the seat cushion cover (1) to the seat cushion frame suspension.
  20. Disengage the J-channel (2) that secures the seat cushion cover (1) to the seat cushion frame.
    NOTE:

    With the use of a grease pencil or equivalent, mark the seat cushion frame suspension where the wiring harness routes through, to prevent pinching the harness during assembly.

  21. Remove the seat cushion and cover from the seat cushion frame.

    If necessary, remove the seat bottom cover from the seat bottom cushion. Refer to COVER, SEAT CUSHION, FRONT, DISASSEMBLY .
