Test 42A - 3-4 Shift Abort (DTC 46)
NOTE:
Perform TEST 4A
before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION
. For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS
. Perform VERIFICATION TEST VER-1A
after each repair.
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
NOTE:
Transmission Control Module (TCM) replacement will not correct DTC 47.
- Turn ignition on. Ensure shift lever is in "P" position. Using scan tool, monitor Clutch Volume Index (CVI) value. Record each clutch volume. Clutch volumes should be within following ranges; LR: 35-85, 2-4: 20-77, OD: 75-150, UD: 24-70. If clutch volumes are within range, go to next step. If clutch volumes are not within range, transaxle may have internal failure.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect Transmission Control Module (TCM). Inspect connector terminals. Clean and repair as needed. Connect TCM connector. Disconnect input speed sensor connector. Clean and repair as needed. Connect input speed sensor connector.
- Disconnect output speed sensor connector. Clean and repair as needed. Connect output speed sensor connector. Road test vehicle. Using scan tool, read DTC's. If code 46 is set, transaxle may have internal failure. If code 46 is not present, go to next step.
- If other DTC's are set, go to TEST 2A . If transaxle performed shift changes correctly during road test, vehicle is currently operating correctly. If transaxle did not perform shift changes correctly during road test, go to TEST 46A .
