Test 1A - Entering 41TE/AE Diagnostic Test

NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Perform VERIFICATION TEST VER-1A  after each repair.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
  1. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Turn ignition on. Ensure shifter is in "P" position. If scan tool has an error message, go to next step. If scan tool has a blank display, check for loose cable connection. Ensure battery is fully charged. A minimum of 11 volts is needed to power scan tool. If scan tool display is still blank, scan tool or cable may be at fault. Replace as needed.
  2. Under normal operation, scan tool displays one of 2 error messages; USER-REQUESTED WARM BOOT or USER-REQUESTED COLD BOOT. Record all screen information and contact scan tool manufacturer.
  3. Using scan tool, select transmission. Scan tool will perform CCD BUS test. If scan tool displays BUS OPERATIONAL, go to next step. If scan tool does not display BUS OPERATIONAL, see appropriate BODY CONTROL COMPUTER - VEHICLE COMMUNICATIONS article.
  4. If scan tool does not display NO RESPONSE, go to TEST 2A  . If scan tool displays NO RESPONSE, go to TEST 44A  .
