VMM Does Not Display Or Displays Incorrect Information
- Ensure engine is running. Inspect fuses No. 6 and 7. If fuse(s) is blown, check circuit(s) for short. Repair or replace as required. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- Using voltmeter with one lead connected to ground, backprobe VMM connector with other lead to check for battery voltage at terminal No. 1 and at terminal No. 5. See Figure . If battery voltage is not present at both terminals, repair open in circuit(s) between fuse block and terminals No. 1 and 5. If battery voltage is present, circuits are okay. Go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Using ohmmeter, check for continuity between ground and terminals No. 15 and 18 of the VMM connector. See Figure . If continuity is present at both terminals and VMM still does not display, replace VMM.
- If continuity is not present, repair open in ground circuit(s). See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If incorrect information is being displayed, perform VMM SELF-DIAGNOSTICS test.
- When performing VMM SELF-DIAGNOSTICS test, ensure all vehicle doors are closed. Using ohmmeter, check for infinity between ground and each of following terminals of VMM connector: No. 6, No. 7, No. 8, and No. 9. See Figure . If an open exists in all 4 circuits, circuits are okay. If continuity exists in any circuit, repair that circuit for a short to ground.
