Battery Chiller: Notes

1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to DRAINING - LOW TEMP/BATTERY COOLING SYSTEM  .
2. Recover the refrigerant from the system. Refer to REFRIGERANT SYSTEM RECOVERY .
3. Remove the nut securing the A/C suction/liquid line to the battery chiller and DISCARD  the O-rings.

   3 - Refrigerant Line Nut

   4 - Cooling Hose Clamps

4. Disconnect the battery chiller wire harness connector.
5. Release the A/C suction/liquid line retaining clip and set the line aside.
6. Remove the right front splash shield. Refer to SHIELD, SPLASH, FRONT WHEELHOUSE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
7. Remove the clips that secure the wire harness to the chiller bracket.

8. Remove the nuts that secure the chiller bracket to the frame rail and remove the assembly from the vehicle.
9. If replacing the chiller, slide it out of the bracket.

10. If replacing the expansion valve, remove the bolts that secure it to the chiller.

INSTALLATION 

Follow the removal procedure in reverse for general reassembly of the components on the vehicle. The steps listed below are calling out specific procedures that should be followed during installation.

• Lightly coat the NEW  O-rings with refrigerant oil prior to installing the suction line.
