Line, A/C Liquid: Removal

WARNING:

Review the safety precautions and warnings in this group before performing this procedure. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious or fatal injury.

  1. Recover the refrigerant from the refrigerant system. Refer to REFRIGERANT SYSTEM RECOVERY .
  2. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
  3. Remove the grille. Refer to GRILLE, REMOVAL .
  4. Remove the fresh air inlet. Refer to INLET, FRESH AIR, REMOVAL .
  5. Remove the air cleaner body. Refer to BODY, AIR CLEANER, REMOVAL .

  6. Remove the bolt (2) that secures the A/C liquid line (1) to the condenser.
  7. Remove and discard the O-ring seal and gasket.
  8. Install plugs in, or tape over the opened refrigerant line fitting and port.

  9. Remove the nut (1) that secures the A/C liquid line and A/C suction line to the A/C expansion valve (2).

  10. Disconnect the electrical connector from the A/C pressure transducer.
  11. Disconnect the A/C liquid and suction lines (1) from the A/C expansion valve and remove and discard the O-ring seals.
  12. Separate the A/C liquid line (2) from the A/C suction line and install plugs in, or tape over the opened refrigerant line fittings and expansion valve ports (3).

  13. Disengage the A/C liquid line from the upper retaining clip (1).

  14. Disengage the A/C liquid line from the lower retaining clips (1) and remove the line from the engine compartment.
