Right Cylinder Head Cover

Remove the right hand camshaft position sensor. Refer to SENSOR, CAMSHAFT POSITION, REMOVAL .
Remove the right hand ignition coils. Refer to COIL, IGNITION, REMOVAL .
Disengage the wiring harness retainers from the right cylinder head cover.
Disconnect the wiring harness connectors from the fuel injectors.
Remove the right hand Variable Valve Timing (VVT) solenoids. Refer to SOLENOID, VARIABLE VALVE TIMING, REMOVAL .
Remove the bank 1 solenoid 1 variable valve lift solenoid. Refer to SOLENOID, VARIABLE VALVE LIFT, REMOVAL .

NOTE:
Capture the washers located under the rear coolant tube and fasteners.
Remove the fasteners (2) securing the rear coolant tube (1) to the right cylinder head cover and reposition the coolant tube.
Remove the PCV valve. Refer to VALVE, POSITIVE CRANKCASE VENTILATION (PCV), REMOVAL .
Remove the right hand engine mount insulator. Refer to INSULATOR, ENGINE MOUNT, REAR, REMOVAL .

Loosen the cylinder head cover mounting bolts (1) and stud bolts and remove the cylinder head cover.

Remove and discard the cylinder head cover gasket (1).
NOTE:
The spark plug tube seals (2) can be reused if not damaged.

CAUTION:
Do not use oil based liquids, wire brushes, abrasive wheels or metal scrapers to clean the engine gasket surfaces. Use only isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol, along with plastic or wooden scrapers. Improper gasket surface preparation may result in engine fluid leakage.
Remove all residual sealant from the cylinder head, timing chain cover and cylinder head cover mating surfaces. Refer to ENGINE GASKET SURFACE PREPARATION .
