Caliper, Disc Brake, Rear: Removal

NOTE:

Before proceeding. Refer to CAUTION . Refer to WARNING .

  1. Place the Electric Park Brake (EPB) in maintenance mode. Refer to PARKING BRAKE, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  2. Using a brake pedal holding tool, depress brake pedal past its first inch of travel and hold it in this position. Holding pedal in this position will isolate master cylinder from hydraulic brake system and will not allow brake fluid to drain out of brake fluid reservoir while brake lines are open.
  3. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  4. Remove the tire and wheel. Refer to REMOVAL .

  5. Loosen the brake caliper hose (3) slightly.
  6. Disconnect the brake pad wear sensor wire harness connector (2) and disengage the wire harness from the routing bracket.
  7. Remove the two caliper guide pin bolts (1).

  8. Disengage the wire harness (1) from the routing clip.
  9. Remove the Electric Park Brake (EPB) actuator. Refer to ACTUATOR, ELECTRIC PARK BRAKE, REMOVAL .
  10. Remove the brake caliper from the caliper adapter bracket and spin the caliper off of the caliper hose.
