Manifold, Intake: Removal: Upper
WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
- Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
- Remove the engine cover. Refer to COVER, ENGINE, REMOVAL .
- Remove the air cleaner resonator. Refer to REMOVAL
- Disconnect the front engine wire harness connectors (2) and detach the wire harness retainer (1) from the manifold, then position aside.
- Disconnect the evaporative purge solenoid wire harness connector (1) and detach the wire harness (2) retainer from the manifold.
- Disconnect the vapor purge line (1) from the solenoid.
- If necessary, disengage the evaporative purge solenoid hose (1) and remove the evaporative purge solenoid (2) from the intake manifold.
- Disconnect the Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) hose (1), then remove the hose from the retaining clips (2) and position aside.
- Remove the throttle body support bracket nut (1) and bolt (2), then remove the throttle body support bracket.
- Remove the EGR coolant tube retaining nut (1) and position tube aside.
- Disconnect the EGR valve wire harness connector.
- Disconnect the EGR cooler hose (1) from the EGR valve.
- Remove the two intake manifold support bracket bolts (1).
- Disconnect the brake booster vacuum hose (1) and position the hose aside.NOTE:
The upper intake manifold attaching bolts are captured in the upper intake manifold. Once loosened, the bolts will have to be lifted out of the lower intake manifold and held while removing the upper intake manifold.
NOTE:Exercise care not to inadvertently loosen the fuel rail attachment bolts that are in close Proximity of the upper intake manifold attaching bolts.
- Remove the eight bolts (1) and the upper intake manifold.
- Inspect the six upper to lower intake manifold gaskets, and reuse if no issue are found.
- Cover the open intake ports to prevent debris from entering the engine.
- If necessary, remove the insulator (1) from the right cylinder head cover.
