Gearshift Cable - Instrument Panel Mount Installation

Route the gearshift cable through the dash panel (4), and install the gearshift cable grommet (3) into the hole into the dash panel (4).

Reconnect the gearshift cable to the gearshift cable bracket (1).
Lock the gearshift cable bracket lock (2).
Reconnect the gearshift cable (3) to the ball stud.
Install the steering column opening cover. Refer to COVER, STEERING COLUMN OPENING, INSTALLATION .
Install the instrument panel bezel. Refer to BEZEL, INSTRUMENT CLUSTER, INSTALLATION .
Raise the vehicle.
NOTE:
The transmission must be in PARK.

Route the gearshift cable (1) through the mounting bracket (2).
Install the gearshift cable (1) end onto the transmission manual shift lever (3).
Install the gearshift cable retaining clip (4) (if equipped).
Lower the vehicle.
Verify the transmission shifts in and out of PARK, and starts in PARK and NEUTRAL only. If necessary, adjust the gearshift cable. Refer to CABLE, SHIFT, ADJUSTMENTS .
