Engine Block: Crankshaft: Removal

- Disconnect and isolate both of the negative battery cables.
- Remove the engine from vehicle and mount on a suitable engine stand. Refer to REMOVAL, 6.7L .
- Remove the bolts (3) and the oil pan (2).
- Remove the bolts (2 and 3) and the oil pickup tube (1).
- Remove the bolts (1) and the block stiffener (2).
- Remove the front timing case housing. Refer to HOUSING, TIMING CASE, FRONT, REMOVAL, 6.7L .
- Remove the crankshaft rear oil seal retainer. Refer to RETAINER, CRANKSHAFT REAR OIL SEAL, REMOVAL, 6.7L .
- Remove the bolts (3) and the connecting rod bearing cap for each piston.
- Remove the bolts (2) and the crankshaft main bearing caps.
- Carefully remove the crankshaft (3) from the engine block (1).
- If required, remove the timing gear from the crankshaft.
