Housing, Timing Case, Front: Removal

- Disconnect and isolate both of the both negative battery cables.
- Remove the camshaft. Refer to REMOVAL .
- Remove the power steering pump. Refer to PUMP, REMOVAL .
- Remove the fuel injection pump. Refer to PUMP, FUEL INJECTION, REMOVAL .
- Remove the crankshaft position sensor. Refer to SENSOR, CRANKSHAFT POSITION, REMOVAL

- Remove the front six oil pan bolts (1).
- Remove the front timing case housing bolts (1, 2).NOTE:
Use care when removing the front timing case housing, to avoid damage to the oil pan gasket.
- Slide a feeler gauge between the front timing case housing and oil pan gasket, to break the gasket seal.
- Remove the front timing case housing and gasket.
- Clean the gasket material from the cylinder block and front timing case housing.
